When we think of climate change, most of us think of environmental consequences like rising sea levels, elevated temperatures and melting glaciers.
But experts say that those effects may only be the tip of the (melting) iceberg. Climate change is shaking up everything from finance to health. As a result, it isnt only urban planners in at-risk areas who will have to shift their framework for planning for the future. From financial planners to farmers, civil engineers to doctors, an increasingly wide range of other professionals are likely to find their industries affected.
That means there may be another consequence of climate change that often gets overlooked: what it means for your career.
Because it is difficult to know exactly how dramatic the effects of climate change will be, it is hard to know just how much it will affect various industries. But some of the changes already are being seen. Climate-related disasters like droughts and hurricanes, for example, are hitting pocketbooks and insurance premiums even for people living on the other side of the world. Meanwhile, the complicated supply chains of a globalised retail industry mean that a disruption in one place can cause consequences elsewhere. That was shown recently when earthquakes hit Japan in April 2016, damaging plants that sold parts to Toyota and forcing the auto giant to suspend production.

LOL that's Joseph Goebbels.
Especially a thousand feet of ice...
Above you.
As has been noted on FR many times, the question is not whether or not the climate is changing. Yes, it is, and has been since the time of Creation. Worry if it ceases to change.
The Climate Movement is stressing global warming because of humans destroying their earthen home. It is mostly aimed at fossil fuel usage. This is pure nonsense.
From what is being published in scientific journals recently the earth is cooling, polar ice is not melting as fast as is normal, CO2 levels are down, etc.
Change is a function of natures cycles and sun activity and not human activity.
Knew it was Goebbels - note the /s at the end of the comment as I was being sarcastic about NatGeo on “climate change.”
How can grownups allow themselves to be deluded to this extent? This global warming hysteria is as valid as worrying about the boogeyman.
Like Little Orphant Annie says, "An' the Gobble-uns 'll git you Ef you Don't Watch Out!"
Your pix of Goebbels has it exactly right: The BBC is the heir to Hitler’s Ministry of Propaganda and Enlightenment.

If liberals actually believed what they preach they would have long ago stop issuing building permits in NYC.
The United Nations building can be emptied, and member delegates can conference via Internet video chats. This will end severe atmospheric pollution by their jet-setting to and from NYC, not to mention the hot air they exude in their fiery speeches.
Hollywood stars can be banned from jet-setting around the world spreading nonsense because we know they earn a living pretending to be characters while they're fed lines to speak to make them appear intelligent when they haven't a clue how the world actually works.
Leftist protesters can be rounded up and interred in prisons every time they congregate to protest, because they like burning cars, buildings and other objects which greatly pollutes the air.
Ban liberals from driving cars. Well, because vehicles pollute, and we don't want them to be put in the position of being hypocrites complaining about the rest of us polluting while they do the same. Stop them from using any electrical devices because most energy comes from fossil fuel sources.
There are other steps that can be taken, the above is a start that would truly be effective.
Way too subtle for me! LOL

So the global economy IS a mistake. :-)
.
Mankind has little to do with causing climate change & less to do with trying to prevent it from changing when it happens.
You’ve been on FR for so long, I remember you from when I was a kid!
