Plus-Size Model Confronts Fat-Shamer on Plane

A Dallas-based plus-size model and student who promotes body positivity has used her social media platform to share how she fought back against a body-shamer while on a flight.

Natalie Hage, 30, said the hurtful ordeal happened on a recent American Airlines flight to Los Angeles when she only had a middle seat available to her. She had paid extra for a seat with greater leg room.

Oh I know. When I lost about 40 lbs by eating better and exercise, I had some people I knew acting like I was doing something immoral.

As you describe the variations of the uses the human body makes of calories, it does seem to me that some bodies are more efficient than others in burning calories or otherwise making use of the fuel they ingest. I know what works for me and I expect that most other weight watchers also know the path they need to follow for best results. Counting calories or carbs or in general knowing what you need to do are the steps, maybe baby steps, that will lead to an awareness of how your particular body mechanism works. I am not versed in famine related weight issues but it is my impression that some humans die more quickly than others when starvation is involved.

I checked out the story and looked at the website and he looked very comfortable and spread out. Not ‘touching her’ or squashed in any way. I didn’t see her in his space any. You could see the bottom half of the armrest clearly between and separating them even. Looks like he may have even had his arm on the one between them but it didn’t show that part. Granted their shoulders could have been touching and she did look large in the bathing suit photos. But the ones posted of them sitting on the plane I didn’t see him having any crisis in his safespace.
