Democratic Bill Lays the Groundwork to Remove Trump From Office
ABC News ^ | Phil McCausland

House Democrats are on a mission to educate the American people about a little-known power of the 25th Amendment — the ousting of the president.

Led by freshman Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland, a group of growing Democratic co-signers has put forth a bill that could force President Donald Trump from office if he were found mentally or physically unfit.

How about a daily thread highlighting each and every one of the corrupt hacks who need to go.
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
I realize this isn’t about being ‘easy’ but wouldn’t it be a more efficient use of time to assume that ALL of them should go, then seek to find which ones are worthy of staying?

There are probably one or two D’s in the bunch worth keeping but naturally have to root out the theory that anything PDT does is inherently wrong.

"... if he were found mentally or physically unfit."

How would that work? First, he is certainly physically fit. So who decides if a president is mentally unfit? Is there actually a Fedgov committee/agency that sits around eating donuts and drinking coffee all day that have daily or weekly or monthly or yearly meetings about whether a president is mentally unfit while sucking up tax-payer dollars? I'd love to see their meeting agendas and what is the criteria for mentally unfit?

Of course I'm being fallacious. These people have lost their minds from disconnected neuron pathways. If anyone needs to be examined for mental illness, it's these sickos. Think Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

If they did manage to stir up CW II, they would most certainly find out what’s behind every blade of grass.

Liberals had better consider how this could backfire. Imagine how this law could have been used if Hillary had won.

“You don’t push back against a childish tantrum. You let it burn itself out.”

You are absolutely right! As much as I hate most of the GOP, they are doing the right thing by not doing anything to dignify this crap. This Capo Raskin’s bill will die in committee and we will move forward. Given the fact that Maryland is this country’s premiere $hit hole state, going after Raskin about it next year would probably help reassure his re-election to Congress.

Not all laws!
Congress can override a presidential veto and thus pass a law the President did not sign

This “commission, etc.” is just fodder for the Rat “crazies”, keeps them energized. Nothing will pass that will have any real force of law. It gives Rat Congresscritters something to point to so they can say, “See I tried to stop Trump!”.

As Mark Steyn said, when demonicRATS are in power they attempt to overthrow foreign governments; when they are not in power, they attempt to overthrow the American government.

Good one - thanks for sharing.

Well, you are correct, but if there are 290 votes in the House to establlish such a commission, and 67 votes in the Senate, then impeachment is a snap, and would be much less controversial.

The congresscritters have not been working on any real legislation since January so what else do they have to do ? Rubberband fights, spitwad games etc., childish posturing is the democrat game of the year.

This will be a gift to President Trump for his re-election. Makes the Democrats look like petty fools.

You're right. Have you notices all the 'news' stories only show the picture of the group leader? A guy who's a white liberal elite? There's a strategy involved... and the press is in on it.

Any member, or members can propose a bill on anything he or she wants. That doesn’t mean it’s going anywhere. Every Congress there’s a bill proposing reparations for slavery—so what? There doesn’t mean there has to be any sort of pushback on what is a publicity stunt.

The 25th Amendment was created as a way to deal with a series of nightmare “what ifs” in the nuclear age. What if Kennedy’s headshot wasn’t fatal, but had left him totally incapacitated, or if a President were to go insane?

The amendment provides a mechanism through the VP and Cabinet to deal with this but allows for another group to make the call if Congress passes a law providing for it. The Dems’ bill is to try to create this other group.

The problem for the Dems is that the writers of the 25th did their best to make it ‘coup proof’ and built in safeguards to prevent what the Dems would like to see happen.

“If successful, the law would ....”

This bill has ZIP, ZERO, NADA chance of going ANYWHERE! Republicans control the House by a wide margin. This bill will NEVER see the light of day even if ALL Democrats sign on to it.

Republicans would never vote it out of committee and Democrats don’t have the votes for a discharge petition.

IF say Ryan and other GOPers joined Democrats on this, it would DESTROY the Republican Party. They would be committing political suicide. They would NEVER do that.

This is an exercise in futility. Silly, actually.

IMO: This is more hot air from the people who make DC so f’ing hot and humid in the first place...

Really I don’t know who are our opponents are at this point: ISIS, al queda, the democratic party, our own government...

I’m sure as soon as President Trump signs the Bill into law, the commission can get right to work.

In order to override a presidential veto, both the House of Representatives AND the Senate must pass the measure by a two-thirds vote. Don't think it can't happen.
