Just my opinion, but I think you both make great points.
AND..........it’s good to see you both. ;)
Don’t like him, though. Never did.
Opportunist.
An ACU rating is not the be-all and end-all of determination if a particular pol is reliable for the cause. After all, McQueeg himself got an “88” rating for 2016, and no one in their right mind would call him reliably Conservative (despite that 85 and above is considered that). Look at the imbecile from Nebraska, Sasse: he got a 100 in both his first two years (2015-16). There’s nobody on FR championing his reelection in 2020.
I’m thinking he probably has a high maintenance wife who can’t live with in a budget.
If he does, no amount of money will be enough.
BTTT
Good to see you!
Doubt you remember me, though. :-)
How are you? I hope that all is well with your and yours!
I never have liked him either; there's always been something quite weasely about him and once he went anti-Trump and his last bit re wanting a "housing" benefit.....well, that tore it.
Apropos my "tone" and vocabulary....the FFs said worse things about each other ( Jefferson was THE worst of the worst and many later presidents weren't much better ! ), I'm in great company. :-)
Slightly off topic

Ok, gross, parents (actually mom cheated and dad is not dad but whatever) are half-siblings who met as adults (this is a thing) but this adult woman called the cops on her parents? Why? What a waste of time for the courts/police.
As for this doofus, he should be forced to pay for the special election to replace him.
You can see me ? Oh, dear. The computer camera adds 50 lbs.
Yes, I recall your screenname. We were in a flamewar back 5 years ago (I just looked it up) over Willard the Rat. Yuck. Glad we dodged that bullet and have Trump ?
So was Chris Cannon, the guy Chaffertz defeated (you can look it up).
The only difference is that Cannon was at least honest and admitted up front that he disagreed with the GOP base on illegal alien amnesty (the one issue where he was dead wrong), whereas Chaffertz just flat out lied and pretended to be a "principled conservative" to get elected, then promptly voted for the very issue he used to oust his predecessor.
I'd prefer a dormitory with 650 sq ft max per person.
A Jew who converted to Mormonism might do anything. His father wrote about queer men. SICK family.
Thanks for the ping/post (I did not know that) back to a very good thread.
I recently talked to someone who was telling me horror stories about the condition of military housing at some of our military facilities.
I hope to God the next time Chaffetz starts whining someone gives him a guided tour of some of our base housing.
Note to FNC: Care to do a story on THAT, you expletives-deleted?!
I’m afraid I have little use for any Utah politician: Hatch, Lee, McMuffin, and this whiner. He knew what he was getting into, and then he knew what he had gotten into. He should not have run for office in the last election.
BS!
$174,000 per year. I never made anywhere near that much money.
What expenses? He slept in his office, probably ate in the House restaurant and cafeteria, showered and worked out in the Hose gym, flew back and forth to his home district for FREE, and many others perks. ‘
He wants to live like he’s rich, not satisfied with being “well to do”.
I bet he is making that $170k salary which is not chickenfeed for doing part time work and smiling to the cameras with his stupid Cheshire grin, but expecting to live like he’s making $1.7mil
That strategy did not work out well for Huckabee. Get rid of CHaffetz and bring back the Huckster. At least he played the bass and he had music on every show.

That’s what I was getting at, but maybe didn’t clarify the thought too well.
His congressional paycheck puts him in about the 92nd percentile of household income in this country.
He’s got to be taking home 10 to 11 grand per month, after taxes.
I don’t know if his wife works or his financial situation otherwise. Just noting that he’s better off than 92% of Americans, even though he does have extra expenses.
So I wonder if he expected to live like he’s a millionaire.
That said, if he can make more doing something else, go for it.
And admittedly Washington DC is an expensive place to live.
I’ve heard stories of congressmen who sleep in their office and shower in the congressional gym, to save money.
When you have the income we taxpayers pay these guys, its hard to believe they really need to do that just to make ends meet.
He must not be a good politician if he couldn’t make a little extra cash based on his position.
There are a lot of Congress-critters on both sides on the aisle who left Washington with a whole lot more wealth than how they arrived. And, as Chaffetz says, $170K can barely make ends meet in Washington, let alone keeping a second residence in or near your district.
