President Donald Trump may sound different than other presidents, but he believes in American values and tries to act in the best interest of the United States, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told CNBC on Wednesday.
"I believe every president of the United States stands for our values," said Rice, who served as secretary of State and national security advisor during the presidency of George W. Bush. "You heard President Trump say, for instance, after the Syrian chemical attack, we can't let that stand. What he was saying was the president of the United States can't let that stand."

When she is attacked for this by the media I am sure she will not play the race and gender cards
It’s high time we had a govt that works clearly in the best interest of the USA. It has been hijacked for decades by people who don’t.
She was a strong NeverTrumper before the election. This may mean a thawing of the NeverTrump movement. First Linda Graham, now Condolezza Rice. People are figuring out President Trump is staying where he is and don’t want to be locked out for eight years.
Then why are we telling Assad what he can and can’t do fighting ISIS?
I have heard some nice things about her from someone who knows her personally.
(not sure if this counts for anything, just passing along fwiw)...
She was a Bush loyalist.
They may be coming around.
The most all the rest of our Politicians are American hating dem and gutless PC GOP that are to scared to fight
I like this Rice as opposed to the other Rice who belongs in federal prison.
I really sense Trump is finally breaking through with some establishment republicans
WE are fighting ISIS. Assad is trying to hang on to power in Syria, as always.
We have assembled a force of anti-Assad locals, and Kurdish fighters and maybe some others, to destroy ISIS. The Assad forces backed by Russia have flown jet fighters and drones in threatening ways and might even have attacked the perimeters or the forces themselves, we don’t have all the info on exactly what they did that caused us to shoot down their plane and their drone. We warned them to stay away from the area where we are operating. They ignored us.
What would you have us do, as long as we’re going to be helping to fight ISIS in Syria? Let Assad threaten or harm us? We have our own warriors there accompanying the assembled fighters.
