Not to defend the Socialist duo but isnt this kerfuffle between the bank and the borrower? Unless taxpayer funds were involved.

No. It’s a federal offense to make any type of false statement or false representation to a federally insured financial institution in order to get a loan. There are lots of prosecutions for it when the losses are big.

Banks are heavily federally regulated and insured.....Example: lie on a bank loan application and default.....see how fast a federal prosecutor is on your tail...

Federal Banking laws may have been broken....

Inappropriate political influence.....

This is going to get interesting......

Popping some popcorn for this one.....

Not if the borrower has substantial clout over the bank, and a senator certainly does.

To Falsify bank loans with fraudulent collateral figures is not a “kerfuffle”, Its Bank Fraud.

It would be except for the part where Bernie used his political clout to encourage the loan go through. And putting down fraudulent information on the loan application probably violates some law.

Unless Bernie put pressure on the bank to give the loan

If Bernie Sanders used his office to inappropriately influence whether his wife obtained the loan for the school, then this "kerfuffle" involves him too.

He can be minimally censured in the US Senate all the way up to impeached and removed as I cited above.

It would be DELICIOUS to see Bernie "the people's hero" impeached and removed. Not likely to happen, but still it'd be DELICIOUS!

A Senator can affect bank regulations. Years ago, when I had imported prescription drugs from Canada, they were seized. I got a Senator’s secretary to make a call and they were released, despite a new law saying they couldn’t be. That’s because nobody in their right mind pisses off a Senator. So, if Bernie’s office made a call to “persuade” the bank to loan, then it is similar to strong arm robbery.

When I was working on government contracts our standard of ethics was much, much higher than the ethics required of politicians. At the lower level where I worked on contracts, every dime was accounted for. But six billion dollars vanished while Hillary was in charge at State and nobody is even looking under the sofa cushions. Different standards for different folks. Or, “Some animals are more equal than others.”
