The Times of Israel reports: A meeting between Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and senior White House official Jared Kushner reportedly left the Palestinian leader fuming and refusing to agree to watered-down demands that Ramallah cut off payments for some convicted terrorists and their families. According to Palestinian sources quoted in Hebrew and Arabic media Friday, Abbas and his advisers accused the US of taking Israel’s side and refused a demand to stop paying salaries to several hundred prisoners serving time for the most serious crimes. Kushner, who is US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and chief Middle East adviser, met with Abbas in Ramallah on Wednesday, along with Trump’s international negotiator Jason Greenblatt.

Sending over a guy with no experience who has had Bibi stay at his family’s house will not lend itself to peace with Abbas.

Sending this guy over sends a great message. That the President and a majority of Americans who voted for him consider Abbas and his people pissants of the worst degree.
According to reports in Arabic media, the Americans watered down their demand about payments to prisoners. Originally the US wanted all payments halted, but now they only want the Palestinians to stop paying salaries to some 600 prisoners serving life sentences who are responsible for the deaths of Israelis, Israel Radio reported, quoting Arabic media.

I disagree that it sends a great message if you want to broker peace. He is the wrong guy..it sends this message

If that is the message Trump wants to send then I guess Kushner is the right guy..BUT it is a PRETENSE as to brokering peace.
Frankly, Kushner will never broker peace. No one has been able to do it yet. Kushner certainly won’t.

It’s fine and dandy to side with Israel..but siding with Israel will only inflame..not broker peace. That is why I call it a PRETENSE.

“Peace” is NEVER going to happen with the Abbas crew.
So there is no harm in confounding them off - whatever heinous acts they are going to commit they’ll find one excuse or the other.
Kushner could give the Palestinians 90% of Israeli territory and still be looked on as an Israeli stooge. You know it and I know it.

1. By sending a family member, President Trump has sent the most credible (by Arab standard) messenger to the Palestinians.
2. By laying out a credible, implementable, first step — stop the payment from Palestinian govt to jailed terrorists — that could be implemented (and countervened by routeing the payment via other parties) — Trump called Abbas’s bluff and demonstrated that Palestinians do not want to negotiate.
He is the wrong guy. He will always be seen as an Israeli stooge. That is my point. Frankly, he is an Israeli stooge. You know and I know it. They know it.

I am watching to see if the abbas rumor gets more play. I doubt he is dead. Just someone sowing seeds.
I what you say is true what is the downside to sending Kushner? Since no one can do it and all that....
