Former Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson testified Wednesday that the Democratic National Committee last year turned down his agency's offer to help protect its network despite being warned about a hack.
He also confirmed that while Russia, at the direction of President Vladimir Putin, orchestrated cyberattacks on the United States to influence the 2016 presidential election, Moscow was unable to actually alter ballots.
“To my current knowledge, the Russian government did not through any cyber intrusion alter ballots, ballot counts or reporting of election results,” Johnson said during his opening statement before the House Intelligence Committee.
Johnson, who served in the Obama administration from December 2013 to January 2017, said his concerns about a cyberattack against the U.S. election systems intensified last summer. He added that he and his counterparts “sounded the alarm but that the press and voters were focused on a lot of other things”

What "cyberattacks?" Oh yeah, that's classified.
And yet CNN had a headline earlier, “DHS officials: 21 states potentially targeted by Russia hackers pre-election”. That qualifier, “potentially” is really important. Didn’t Obama tell the nation in October that our elections couldn’t be hacked and to “stop whining”?

I think the lack of forensics around the DNC hack really should be followed up on by our side. This whole Russian conspiracy theory is all based on a crime that the “victims” showed zero interest in having investigated.
NSA servers probably scooped up all the online network data from/to DNC but even if they agreed to disclose it what investigators at DOJ would see would be “redacted” at best.

IIRC, the DNC was notified that as least 5 State actors had gotten their data. FBI or DHS told the DNC.
The DNC did nothing.

Yeah maybe, but in the “report” they issues in January, there were no indications given that they had precisely tracked the hack via NSA data, and given the alternative possibility (a leak), it would seem that at some point in the process a forensic examination of the actual server would be necessary, if only to eliminate that possibility.
