When the full returns are counted, Republicans here will have to ask themselves why the race was so close in a community that Mitt Romney won by 23 points in 2012, and also what Handel did right to keep her own fortunes separate and apart from Donald Trumps Tweet storms.
But Democrats will have more soul searching to do. They are now zero-for-four in special elections since Trump became the president and need to understand why.
Theyll be quick to say the Ossoff race never should have been so close, which is true. And that Ossoff won in a sense just by being competitive in an R+10 district, which is sort of true.
But after $23 million, a candidate who genuinely ignited the grassroots, and a Republican president who may or may not be (but probably is) under FBI investigation and cant stop talking about it, the real question Democrats need to answer is: Whats it going to take to win an election in the era of Trump?
As of Tuesday night, they still have no idea.

It appears that all of the “Democrats” next “rising stars” are nothing more than space junk reentering Earth’s atmosphere.
There may hace been some family oriented democrats that didn’t vote for a guy not respecting the institution of marriage. Why would “Bible belt” democrats want to make a national leader of one who doesn’t honor marriage?
The Socialists need to spend 5x on the next election and if that doesn’t work they need to spend 10x on the next and if that doesn’t work they need to spend 20x on the next...

I won't be first or last to tweet this, but the #ga06 candidate who shattered $ records has a cash bar at his victory party.
Comparing a incumbent running for relection against an unfunded no name Dem to a special election where the Dems spent $35 million is intellectually dishonest.
Sorry Never Trumpers and other assorted Media clowns.
When you thought you were going to win, you hyped this as a “referendum on President Trump”
Now that you lost, badly, you don’t get to change the spin.
Let democrats believe whatever fantasy they come up with... We’re stronger when democrats are in denial - their self-serving puffed up excuses will guarantee more wins...
Correction please.... DEMOCRAT, not Democratic. Please stop allowing liberals the ability to control their BS narrative.

Close to $200 per vote. You’d think that money could be better used.

Didn’t matter for Rinomey
The democrats lost to Trump, and numerous elections since, because they are stuck in the small-minded, short-sighted belief that Obama was their savior. What they don’t recognize is that these elections have been a result of masses of people rising up against that idea. So in an effort to keep winning, they keep trying to be more “Obama.” This is what is killing them. He is toxic and they don’t know it.
(Don’t tell them. I’m enjoying the show.)
“I read the Trump won the district by 2% - how does that translate to a R+10 district?”
It’s a RINO district. Wealthy RINOs.
Democrats need to immigrate to N Korea...
Why not just do what they did in ‘96, and collude with the PRC?
And she embraced trump
