A former professor at Essex County College was indefinitely suspended two days after her heated appearance on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”
Lisa Durden was told that she had to cancel her classes and report to Essex County College’s human resources department two days after a June 6 appearance on the prime time Fox News show. School officials then indefinitely suspended her.
“They did this to humiliate me,” Durden told The Star-Ledger. “Essex County College publicly lynched me in front of my students.”
Durden went off on the show in defense of a black-only Memorial Day party organized by Black Lives Matter, dodging a direct question from Carlson on whether it’s okay to exclude people based on race.
“I thought the whole point of Black Lives Matter, or one of the points, would be to speak out against singling people out on the basis of their race and punishing them for that because you can’t control what your race is, and yet they seem to be doing that, explain that to me,” Tucker said.
“What I say to that is boo hoo hoo you white people are angry because you couldn’t use your white privilege card to get invited to the Black Lives Matters, all black, Memorial Day celebration,” Durden replied, cutting off Carlson.

What I say to that—is boo hoo hoo. Your black entitlement failed. Now may you be fired and work at Burger King the rest of your life. Where your skills are much more applicable.
Critical Race Theory argued that blacks could not be racist because they were not in positions of power. It argued that color-blindness was naive because it did not account for the advantages of those in power (presumed to be white).
If Critical Race Theory was true then Barack Obama and two black Attorneys General as well as many other blacks in high elective and appointive office, and in the police and sheriff departments of the country argue that it is no longer.
It is unfortunate, but some people are trying to hold onto the reverse privileges associated with affirmative action, and to real or imagined hurt (perhaps suffering from trauma).
It is time for people who are leaders within their communities to say flat out, get over it. You’re not exempt from the expected and contractual obligations of your job as a university professor, to represent yourself and your institution well, when in public.
As for an all-black Memorial Day, what does this say to family members and friends of those of other races of those who have fallen of any race? It seems so hateful.
This was a long time ago, but back in the day, we were to include 1 hour of race relations training into our unit training schedule every month. We held our re-enlistment ceremonies during this hour, when we had re-enlistments, with family and friends of course invited. These were our best race relations “classes.”
When you went to high school, the kids were born before the explosion in single motherhood. Kids need to grow up under a disciplining father.
