Thank you for clarifying this. I agree that he was wrong. When we know of someone who is contemplating suicide, we help them to get counseling, to do something which will stop them from doing it. Of course it is wrong to goad the person into completion of the act. The judge, in his decision, said that the young man had gotten out of his vehicle, evidently he was having trouble breathing with the carbon monoxide, and she told him to get back in. There are a lot of text messages, the phone call, etc, where she could have notified the police, or done something to remedy the sad situation and save his life. She chose to tell him to get back in and, in his state of carbon monoxide poisoning, couldn’t think clearly. She called a friend and told her that he had died and related her part in it. She knew herself.
Thanks for your informative post. When listening to Rush today, I did not get a sense Rush’s take was that this was a slippery slope, but that the girlfriend should be absolved of any accountability. I think that Rush also brought in (I wasn’t clear if he actually said this) that someone who is goading or driving another person to commit murder should also not be held accountable. Do you remember any mention of that by Rush? He connected the suicide with a hypothetical murder, but I wasn’t clear what his thinking was or how he connected the two. The caller was questioning him too, so it wasn’t just me that was scratching my head.
clearly a toxic relationship
Clearly this woman is a pig but this guy was driving her nuts with his BS
She did not kill him but she felt that he was killing her with BS
Rush is simply saying take a wide berth around this stuff lest you end up on the rocks

Rush had a larger point that he was trying to make which I didn’t get either. He said that she wasn’t even there. (She was communicating with him via text and phone calls.) His larger point was that you don’t want decisions like this because, I think, he thought it is a stretch. And it would be used to hurt people. I didn’t follow it. I did watch the show about this case online Sat night and, despite the fact that they were both taking anti-depressants at some time, there was never any communication with the parents or anyone else, re his deteriorating condition.
In fact, according to the show, she was actually telling him to do it. Had this been a worthy goal, it would have been admirable. She did everything, even so far as telling him to get back in when he was having trouble breathing, to display a total disregard for life.
His parents were on the show as well as his sisters. None of them saw this coming. It is so sad for the family, compounded by the fact that he kept texting/phoning her and her responses to him kept pushing him in the wrong direction.
I didn’t hear slippery slope either. The caller was a fireman and he, I think, was wanting to side with us, as he mentioned people yelling ‘jump’ or ‘fire’ in a crowded theater. But, he was deferring to Rush and not saying his opinion.
They both were weak.
Now were are they?

Rush Ping List...
I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on 2/24; subsequent ct-scans and tests refuted that and it was downgraded to Acute/Severe Pancreatitis as the ct-scans and other tests progressed, and as they took biopsies. I spent 23 days in the hospital and haven’t recovered from that yet. The found Afib, so I’m being treated for both Pancreatitis and Afib now. Sucks to be me.
I thank the Lord it’s not cancer. Pancreatic cancer is fatal. I’m sorry you’re experiencing so much pain, but I have faith you will recover even if it’s taking a long time.
Blessings. Will keep you in my prayers.
Thanks for your prayers. PC is a death sentence, once discovered, since it’s spread to so many other places.
Bump for the malpractice evil media!
Glad to hear you don’t have cancer. Prayers for your recovery from the pancreatitis and Afib.
Thanks for the ping.
Me too; thanks.
Congrats to Karen Handel, the first Republican woman in Congress from Georgia, for beating Jon Ossoff in the GA-6 special election.

Ossoff chump bump.
I’m so glad it wasn’t cancer, carriage_hill, and you’re in my prayers for a full recovery. My favorite American author, Pat Conroy, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in Jan 2016 and was gone within a few weeks. I’m glad that’s not happening to you!
