A bill allowing the starvation and dehydration of dementia and mentally ill patients against their will passed the Oregon Senate 17-13 on June 8.
SB494 would remove safeguards in Oregon law that protect the right of patients to receive food and water as part of basic treatment. It would give healthcare representatives power to potentially coerce doctors into starving patients against their will.

Terri Schiavo was my first thought.
Note to self - don’t every go to Oregon. Not that I ever planned on crossing into the lib cesspool.
I believe that even in the best of nursing homes, when someone is “near death” but lingering, if there is another patient that needs their bed, that the staff “move it along”. I think it is done routinely. No proof. Just my belief. Gotta keep things “moving along”. Efficiency, you know.
Quite often, when believers question the existence of God it’s because of the existence of evil, which in our age appears to be exploding all around us in many and varied forms. Here’s a website that I hope will answer your questions and restore your faith: “Why does God allow evil?” https://www.gotquestions.org/God-allow-evil.html
“Terminally ill patients are dehydrated. People dont want to believe it.”
—
Are you talking about people who are unconscious and being kept alive by tubes or do you mean someone who is able to drink on their own?
Most of the Little old Ladies I saw medicated with Haldol had Sundowner’s Syndrome, where they are fine during the day but become increasingly psychotic and agitated and the evening progresses into the night.
Saw a 99 lb sundowner take out two nurses and an aide with an IV pole.
Like we here said, the liberals’ “Assisted suicide, death with dignity” was just the FIRST STEP. It’s all down hill to murder from there.
[These nursing homes]
Claire McCaskill, Democrat, owns some nursing homes, I believe.
Just sayin’.......
Satan is in charge of the world, since the Garden of Eden.
His reign will end at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
Hold on to your faith.
Terminally ill patients should stay at home and fight to the bitter end for life.
Life is a gift from GOD and to be guarded jealously at all times and under all circumstances.
Pain medication is fine, other medications are fine in the fight for life, simple surrender to death is a disgrace in my opinion.
GOD gave us one life and told us to live it as fully as possible, that does not include letting some mere human decide when you or I should die.
It’s my money and I will spend it as I see fit, f#ck leaving an inheritance for the kids, let them earn their own and find out just what a struggle is really all about.
Now Flame Away, I don’t care.
PS: When was dieing ever supposed to be pleasant?
I am talking about a terminally ill person who is able to speak, stand, walk a limited distance, and understand when spoken to. They are definitely not unconscious. They are aware. And they are dehydrated and it hastens death.
There are too many times lately when I, a follower of Christ for twenty years, sincerely wonder if there is a God at all.
Stuff like this never helps matters in that regard.

Stuff like this is spelled out as part of the death of this world. Or citizenship is not here.
Thanks,and good lord,that’s frightening.
.
Well for all the old prochoice people who raised their kids to also be calloused about other peoples lives and being burdens that can be disposed of, I can only think for them it is somehow appropriate payback.
The kids who were raised right w/r/t human life are less likely to do this to their parents.
Yes. It is done routinely. Many of the staff truly believe it is for the welfare of the patient.
YES; any one who disagrees with them will be found to have an incurable mental disorder, off to the gas chamber, then the crematorium.
Don’t tell me that! I’m a recovering back surgery patient, who at 74, is being given superlative post-op care. Couldn’t ask for anything better. ‘course we live in the southern portion of the state.
This goes on all the time under the cover of Hospice. It is so very sad and terribly cruel. People who know that they want to live are starved and dehydrated to death on copious amounts of drugs. Once they get their hooks into someone it can take only a week.
I think that they kill people quickly because it is cheap. The institution must get some kind of kick back. They get more money for taking care of someone in terminal condition with having to do little because the patient just lies there.
Hospices were forced to maintain an average of 5 months duration per client by the fed gov due to that they practiced massive fraud. They had way too many patients on it who weren’t terminal, needed little attention and lasted for even years. They get so much from the gov for each client per day.
When their average per patient life gets out of wack they have institutions that quietly kill by dehydration, starvation and drugs the forgotten patients. The institution knows how to kill them quickly and cheaply, but get more money from the fed gov because they are tending to someone in end stage, terminal condition. It doesn’t matter at all that the patient very, very much doesn’t want to die and often knows that they are being murdered. Hospice can keep on it’s rolls more patients that do not need hardly any attention and get money per day for them without doing much. It’s all about money and probably the kick out of knowing that they are playing god over people’s lives.
Tell me, again that we are not going to war.
