Why can't President Trump direct the DOJ to investigate the prima facie crimes of Hillary Clinton? He is the president. The president is the head of the Executive Branch. The Executive Branch is in charge of investigation and prosecution of crimes. What am I missing?

It does seem like the ball is in Trump’s court and he’s simply doing nothing about it. It’s one think to spell out the truth of the double standard in the media and in the entrenched branches of government... but it’s quite another to actually exercise his AUTHORITY and actually DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
What’s he waiting for? Why doesn’t he start fighting back, not just with words but with real leadership actions?
