Propane refrigerators are incredibly common in campers and RVs for many decades. My grandfather’s camper had one and that was at least 40 years ago.

On that type of unit, the propane is the energy source, not the refrigerant. Not likely the case here.

We never had an igniter on ours, it was plugged in (and no, there was not a piezo starter on there either).
