Watch live: A huge fire has engulfed a 24-story apartment block in West London.
They said there were people on the roof....hopefully helcopters could get close enough to get them before it was too late....
A meth Lap could also explode like that....
I think I would own a parachute if I lived up in this dump. But, then, I wouldn’t live in a high rise, period.
Ever.
True, it will probably take quite a while before they figure out what happened. They don't even know if everyone got out.
Real serious concern building will collapse...floors inside we’re falling....
Possibly fire containment systems had been temporarily disabled.
Why the fire spread so quickly is a mystery.
Prayers for all involved.
“140 flats & 3 or 4 people per flat, that’s a lot of people”
BBC this morning saying the tower clad with plastic.
BBC said this morning the tower was clad in ‘plastic’...whatever that means...
Fire safety experts say modifications by right-to-buy owners have exacerbated problem...Three-quarters of all social housing blocks are potentially unsafe in a fire, according to a survey questioning managers responsible for ensuring buildings are properly maintained..in London.
Is this true? You have exploding refrigerators over there?
Are they made by a division of Lucas Electrics?
And what about that beer-warming part?
Idiots. They just finished putting on new insulated cladding — flammable insulated cladding. No alarms, no sprinklers, and a bunch of immigrants who had never been higher than a dirt floor. I imagine something along the lines of a turkey fryer. They broke their Ramadan fast at what, Midnight? Half an hour later, a cooking fire, only one stairwell, ladder trucks that only get up 10 stories....
I can’t decide which was the cause.....
There are going to be bodies....
If they are muslims it will more like 12-15 people per flat.
Must have been an accelerant. Couple of 5 gallon gas cans in the stairwell or the elevator shaft?? They invented gas through the letter box over there in London.
We have them here. RV’s have the propane frig and they do catch fire.
if a appliance caught fire on the 4th floor, it should have only impacted the apartment it was in and maybe a few below or next door with smoke and water damage. Something had to have caused a small fire to eventually fully involve all 27 floors. That should not happen.
I wonder too. The fire doesn’t look like it started and progressed naturally. Have they determined if it was arson?
