If it is now the case that there IS NOT AND NEVER WAS A CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION of the Trump campaign related to the Russian hacking, then there is no basis for a recusal of Sessions from the Russian hacking investigation.

The premise of his recusal as a Trump campaign advisor is that there is or was a criminal investigation of the Trump campaign related to the Russian hacking.

Unsupported innuendo of Trump and his people by Democrats is not the same thing as a criminal investigation.

If the reality today is that there was no criminal investigation of the Trump campaign and that there never has been a basis to initiate a criminal investigation of the Trump campaign then there is no current reason for recusal.
