The Government IT staff is junior grade incompetent no nothings! Anyone in IT know that you lock down USB access to workstations to prevent thumb drive access and lifting of material. PRIVATE COMPANIES DO THIS and yet our own Federal Government who is tasked with locking down secret information any even hire an IT staff competent enough to implement the most basic of security policies?

It is up and down the spectrum. We have had engagements with NO internet, you have to check your cell phone/PDA in when entering the building and no USB. I wasn’t working on them but a colleague of mine was. He says it is almost impossible to get any work done since if you need anything you need to have the workstation guy install it for you.
So it is possible, just rare.
