I am claustrophobic and regard my full-body MRI as the most horrific medical experience of my life. Not exaggerating when I say it is in the top 5 of the worst experiences of my life.

Me, too. I had to go through multiple MRIs years ago when I had a bone infection in my leg. Since then, I dread having another affliction down the road that requires me to get into that damn thing again.

Had one recently. I think of it as training for space flight. Makes it easier.

My father is the same way. Worse, in a recent ER visit, instead of using an open MRI, they gave him a sedative that caused such an adverse reaction reaction that he became combative and had hallucinations, requiring two days of hospitalization.

I am NOT claustrophobic and have had many MRIs and my first and only "freakout" experience was when I needed a head scan and was fitted for the first time with a "silence of the lambs" mask. Managed it with very little effort the second time.
