The cost of imprisoning each of California’s 130,000 inmates is expected to reach a record $75,560 in the next year

That’s enough to cover the annual cost of attending Harvard University and still have plenty left over for pizza and beer

Gov. Jerry Brown’s spending plan for the fiscal year that starts July 1 includes a record $11.4 billion for the corrections department while also predicting that there will be 11,500 fewer inmates in four years because voters in November approved earlier releases for many inmates.

That’s an very “interesting” idea...

I’m not sure your idea will work out like you envision...

Ship them to a private prison in the artic where there is no place to escape.

They would be forced to cut firewood to earn their keep. Anyone that didn’t want to work would be left out in the cold with no food except skeeters.

Put me in charge and the bastards would never want to come back!

What’s the difference?

The prisoner will come out better educated.

Brothers, Steven the older. Steve had I believe a concierge MD practice in the NY area and now is in nephrology. Jeffrey was dean of the med school but operated a clinic/lab specializing in diabetes. I don’t know if that qualifies as a “teaching” hospital.

This is put out there by the anti-prison Left.

Oh it’s so unfair...

Look at the racial makeup. Oh the horrors...

DON’T COMMIT THE CRIME, IF YOU DON’T WANT TO DO THE TIME!

Yes,I knew Steve...but not well.We weren't pals or anything. In fact I was junior administration back then and I would have been his subordinate.

Don't know how familiar you are with the "Longwood Medical Area" but it consists of the Medical School itself, the Dental School, the School of Public Health, more clinics and research buildings than you can shake a stick at and several of the big teaching hospitals. In addition there's Massachusetts General which is a couple of miles away but, nevertheless,is the largest and most important institution affiliated with HMS.

Makes me wonder if there’s not some old fashioned ‘honest’ graft going on with this.

Nyaaaaaah. That couldn’t happen.

Putting them on chain gangs is against the law these days. Poor things might get a blister or sun burn and we can’t have that.

Deport the illegals and yank green cards. Better yet, don’t let them in the US.

Hire Sheriff Joe to run the prisons. Tents, bologna and pink undies.

You’d have to be a lunatic to take a career in corrections. Many of those people working in jails turn alcoholic, they become bitter, withdrawn and paranoid. In fact, those working in many state and county jails are sick all the time, because off all the cooties associated with the low life in jail/prisons.

Life is way too short to spend most of your life in a jail with mostly low life AHs. And what’s that 50k after taxes? 30K? No thank you!
