From what I have read, Trump agreed with the Saudis to make an effort on the Palestinian issue without committing to a specific proposal or outcome, with the Saudis said to agree to cut financing to the PA if they did not cooperate. That seems to have played out for now in that Abbas has already been exposed as a liar to Trump in his claim that he and the Palestinian Authority did not engage in anti-Jewish incitement. Netanyahu easily exposed that as untrue.
The two state solution is a fantasy now more than ever. Due to the potential for enhanced terrorism, not just Israel but the Egyptian and Jordanian governments as well see a Palestinian state as a dire menace to their security. No one likes the Palestinians, who are privately reviled and scorned throughout the Muslim world for their disloyalty, violence, and criminal tendencies. They could continue for decades under their current arrangements, awaiting larger events to settle their fate.
For the near future, Kushner will find that much of his time and energy are taken up with lawyers and trying to combat adverse publicity, and then with giving testimony that has an appreciable risk of prosecution if he gets anything wrong.
But unless he retreats to NY, Ivanka will still be there pushing the making up to $300K a year, which has made it into the initial draft, at least, of the president’s budget.
For most people, the fun, thrilling aspect of politics usually evaporates after two or three years, and more quickly when one’s spouse is experiencing the meat grinder of an investigation and a hostile media. I think that in time Ivanka will draw back from any public duties.
Akin to their headline that Merkel says Germany can no longer depend on the US - her actual words were to the effect that the days when they could rely on others is near at hand and they must take responsibility for their own destiny into their own hands - IOW, she got the message about self-responsibility/reliance vs. expecting to be a welfare recipient.

True, but currently it is the world's only Jewish state, so they won't do that.

True, and the Palestinians will vote for whatever terrorist instructs them to vote for him. But the Israelis have to balance between being destroyed from outside and destroyed from within. Some two state solution won't stop the former, but might help with the latter. Maybe three states, one terrorist Islamist, one secular and one Jewish.

Trump only has two speeds, “Great” and “You’re fired”. I totally agree that the “back channel” chatter is absolutely nothing.
But Jivanka have been a disaster for his admin overall—pushing him to bring in GOPe trolls like Priebus and all of Priebus’s hires, and Democrat/GOPe trolls like Cohn, Powell, McMaster, etc. Their pushing for liberal positions is a disaster as well.
As the article I linked to details, Jared is not the hero some would like to paint him as—rather, he is a pox on the Trump administration and needs to go.
A prime example is the wife pulling the strings on the Murdoch son - whose purging FOX of Trump supporters.

Alas, although Muslim Arabs live in peace, security, and prosperity in Israel, far too many yearn to see their Jewish neighbors dead or subjugated under Sharia law. Perhaps the Palestinian territories will one day provide a venue into which to expel the disloyal and dangerous.
