Yes, the US armed forces keep Iran at bay and let the Saudi’s retain power over their oil fields. $1.2 billion is a pittance.
Yes!! We sold them $110,000,000,000 in weapons !
Did we reciprocate?
This is very mild recompense for things we did in the past.
First, we accepted the Saudi theft of the oil fields developed and paid for by contract. That was worth trillions to the Saudis.
Then we shored up and kept OPEC alive for generations. At the beginning, the Shaw of Iran is reported to have offered to break OPEC for us, but Henry Kissinger told him to stand down. The word was the Kissinger wanted the Saudis to have lots of money to buy U.S. military hardware, so as to keep them out of the hands of the Soviet Union.
That decision was worth trillions more.
So a few trinkets at 1.2 billion are hardly noticeable.
