SOUTH ORANGE, New Jersey (WABC) -- A group of middle school students from New Jersey caused quite a flap, after half of them refused to take a picture with Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan.
It happened Thursday during a field trip to Washington.
Reaction from the students' parents are as politically divided as the country.
"It's not just a picture," said Matthew Malespina, a student.
Matthew says he couldn't go through with it.
It didn't matter that Paul Ryan is the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, or that he is third in-line to the presidency.
When he and his classmates from South Orange Middle School had the chance to take a picture with the speaker. Matthew watched from the parking lot with 100 of his fellow students.

We should respect the Office the person holds, but then on the other hand it depends on the person who holds the Office...
In BO’s case, I would be very upset to have them with a picture of them and him, but then again I would be upset with any of my kids being poised with a Dem. of any kind...
Speaker Ryan is a RINO, along with 99.9% of the ‘Republican House’ so I don't think I would want my kids in a picture with them either...
Now on the other hand if President Trump came and my kids wanted to be in a picture with him, I would be okay with that because I don't look at President Trump as a ‘politician’ like the rest of the ‘swamp’ is...

These kids are right for the wrong reasons.

Administrators have made stupid decisions supporting liberal causes while opposing conservative behavior on campus consistently.
Curricula has swayed so far left it approaches indoctrination.
Teachers are telling students what to think not teaching them how to think, and are making their grades dependent on properly reciting dogma, not facts.
Universities are total leftist activism swamps.
Clean 'em out by defunding or eliminating the department of education and returning control of schools to local communities.

The son of the principle in a local high school slipped on a Trump t-shirt aduring a Hillary event...in the high school last year...and was ordered to turn the t-shirt inside out or leave.
Could you wear a Hillary t-shirt to the Ryan event...I bet you could?

maplewood and south orange are full of liberals.
the south orange/maplewood school district had a full-sized, cardboard picture of obama, standing at the entrance of some of the schools in town....I never saw anything like it.

These kids would have been thrilled to pose with Obama. NJ is full of democratts & the kids were indoctrinated by their parents & teachers.

Busy teaching the kids that leftist takeover of schools and inviolate union and retirement benefits are a religion.
And that the kids will be slaves unto it for all of their lives.
It’s because their @$$hole parents have indoctrinated them. I would have never told my grandkids to NOT have a photo taken with our local RAT senator, or even with Obama. Few get the opportunity. We would discuss it later at an appropriate age.
I am not a fan of Ryan but this is appalling. These adults are despicable. I bet the skulls of mush kids could not name one thing that Ryan did let alone name the state he is from.
Good...Maybe now our Legislators will focus on their jobs instead of trying to be celebrities.
