we're in Luzon, and our main danger is druggies who rob people to get money. Also being in the cross fire when our politicians go after their rivals (our nephew was killed in one of these hits awhile back).

There are some Muslims in the area but not many.

The real worry is is that the Abus imported bomb makers, and the cops worry that they will send a bomb up to the Manila area to set off in a mall etc.

But even here, we get frisked/wanded and our purses/backpacks checked when we go into the malls. The Palenkes(outdoor markets) have cops around, as do churches, so that is a worry for locals.
