"Last Judgement .. ― a moment in Catholicism where a soul is sent to heaven, purgatory, or hell."
Not so. That's what happens at the "Particular Judgment" --- the one that happens an instant after you're dead -- you get Heaven, Purgatory or Hell.
At the Last Judgment --- the one that happens at the end of the world --- the options narrow down to two: Heaven or Hell.
At the end of the world, there's no more Purgatory. That was just a temporary purifying state that does not and cannot persist into eternity.
So you pay for your own salvation?
Do you expect a ‘journalist’ to know anything about religion? Of course, the real immediate choices are purgatory or hell. Heaven after purification.
