Ok. Barbara Bush is wearing a chapel veil— classic doily shape. I’ll go with calling Melania’s headcovering a chapel veil. The reason it piqued my interest was the refusal to cover up in Saudi Arabia, in contrast with the willingness to cover her head to meet the Pope. I don’t have a problem with that, but it would be interesting to know what the Saudis think of it.
