The man tasked with investigating possible meddling by Russia in the 2016 presidential election a probe that will likely encompass President Trumps recent firing of FBI Director James Comey once called Comey one of the finest people Ive ever met.

I am still livid over AG Jeff Sessions recusing himself from overseeing this entire debacle. He basically stabbed President Trump in the back just hours after that glorious address to Congress.
Moreover, how in the world did a crooked Maryland operative, Rod Rosenstein, ever get nominated for deputy AG???!!!
Damn the swamp vermin who are all in cahoots and conspiring in this wicked coup attempt against our GREAT President!!!
That night, though, Comey knew he had an ally to call. He asked Mueller, the ramrod-straight FBI director, to meet him at the hospital, but as his own car raced toward the hospitalits grill lights flashing and siren wailingComey realized that Mueller wouldnt make it before the White House officials, so he asked for help: Dont let them remove me, he asked Mueller.
Comey knew that Card would have Secret Service protection with him, and he was worried about being forcibly ejected by agents from Ashcrofts hospital room. Ashcroft, weakened from gallbladder problems, was in no condition to sign off on STELLAR WINDhed legally turned the reins over to Comey while he was incapacitatedbut, Comey feared, if the White House could isolate Ashcroft, who knew what it would do? Comey thought fast: Ashcroft had his own FBI security detail, and so he asked Mueller to call ahead and tell them not to allow the attorney general to be left alone. It was, in an extraordinary showdown between the White House and Justice Department, perhaps the single most extraordinary moment of the tumultuous Bush years: The FBI director ordering his agents to resist the Secret Service if they tried to remove the deputy attorney general from the attorney generals bedside. As motorcades converged on the hospital from across Washington, everyone involved wondered: Just how far would this situation escalate?
It was all the more remarkable because no one outside of a tiny circle of high-ranking officials had any idea the cinematic showdown was playing out. It would be more than three years before Comey first mentioned that nights drama, and the full details would trickle out only in the years thereafter.
The story of that March 11, 2004, showdownhow it came to light and what it says about the motivations and the moral compass of the two men now at the heart of a new Washington showdownshould deeply worry the Trump White House.
Donald Trump, as it turns out, has stumbled into taking on two experienced Washington players on their home turfin skirmishes that will play out in public Capitol Hill hearings with Comey even as Mueller slogs along with what is likely to be a quiet, tenacious and by-the-book investigation into the heart of the Trump campaigns relationship with Russia.
You knows it’s bad and painfully obvious to all the politic hacks in Washington if even Politico is trying to let Trump know that Comey and Meuller are besties. That they have each others back for over a decade.
Good point, Larry.
And now Comey want to meet with him off the record? Are you kidding us? Major conflict of interest. Even Politico is say Trump need stop fight Mueller's conflict of interest. How shady are both of them that they have to meet in person without any eye witnesses and without any digital transcripts.
Amen....all should be investigated!
“One of the finest people Ive ever met” can be a backhanded compliment.
Muller is a lawyer in Washington DC, isn’t he? Calling Comey one of the finest people Ive ever met isn’t saying much.
Don't forget that Mueller served under Bush and there is nothing more that the Bush family would want than for Mueller to take down Trump.
Again, this Russian investigation is a joke. Should never have happened. And now the left is engaged in entrapment of a sitting President. They are trying to get Trump on hearsay, or Comey’s supposed interpretation of his conversations with Trump. As if Comey is a mind reader and they are now trying to say Trump was strong arming them to stop this FAKE FAKE FAKE investigation.
Mueller needs to recuse by Monday. Sessions needs to ask for his recusal on Monday.
Comey has the audacity to ask to speck with the special council before his testimony? Are you kidding? Comey is a Dem operative, Mueller is a Bush operative.
Trump needs to expose them all.
I’m not defending anybody. I’m simply not taking for granted that Mueller has a positive view of Comey. The quote in question is one of those diplomatic things people say when they have nothing more specifically nice to say about someone.
Lurch, and Lurcher.
Mueller who invited CAIR at the FBI for advice and education on how should the FBI treat muslims....
Didnt Mueller also have members of the FSB at an FBI antiterror conference?
WHY would anyone on Free Republic defend Mueller for investigating Trump? There should not even be an investigation. And now there is overwhelming evidence that they have relied on each other for over a decade.

This and everything else in your post is absolutely right. EVERYONE involved in this travesty has one common goal, and as even a freaking MORON can see, it is to have our President impeached. If they are successful, it will probably take a violent revolution to rid our country of the anti-American scum that will then have control of our government.
