Since American citizens have the right to keep and bear arms (not just law enforcement officials, as gun control advocates maintain), it would seem to follow that theyre entitled to use their weapons when they are threatened.
More than a century ago, the U.S. Supreme Court recognized that in Beard v. United States, where the first Justice Harlan wrote that the defendant, who had been convicted of manslaughter for killing a man in a violent dispute,
was not obliged to retreat, not to consider whether he could safely retreat, but was entitled to stand his ground, and meet any attack upon him with a deadly weapon, in such a way and with such force as, under all the circumstances, he, at the moment honestly believed, and had reasonable grounds to believe, were necessary to save his own life, or to protect himself from great bodily injury.
To codify that right and prevent people from being put on trial for reasonable, defensive gun use when a prosecutor thinks they might instead have retreated or fled, 24 states have enacted stand your ground statutes. Among them is North Carolina, but a recent case there shows that when prosecutors and judges want to convict a man for using his gun, the stand your ground law can be trampled upon.

No, I did not. I pointed at one irregularity -- while including, for sake of others here, criticisms of YOU personally.
Look at what I cited---
Unreliable witness, or unreliable policeman. It almost has to be one, or the other.
And that's why I hate your guts. You twist everything. The truth is simply not in you, troll. You lie about EVERYTHING.
If we ever meet -- you'd better run.
Answer the question, bitch.
It sounds like a pretty complicated set of events that could have gone a whole bunch of different ways. My soon-to-graduate college son won't shy away from an argument, but is also a bit naive. I keep warning him about “the real world”. And how stuff like this can spin out of control
Sounds like Epps instigated the argument with the several drive-bys and yelling. And that provoked Walker into throwing a fist. And Epps then shot Walker in self-defense.
If I had been Lee, and watched my relative just get shot, in the heat of the moment I would not wait for Epps to point his gun at me and then try to draw mine. Mine would be out the moment my relative (or friend) was shot. I suppose I would be in the wrong, but it would be survival instinct. (Although I wouldn't have stood over Epps and kept shooting him while he was down as some witnesses have said).
The best thing of course is to avoid these situations. (Of which I'm trying to teach my son.) I would have done everything I could to keep my relative from going out into the street in the first place. Call the cops after the second time they drove by. (I'm not too bothered with my "street cred" going down by calling the cops!) Although where I live the cops would be here in a few minutes with two or three squad cars. I'm guessing where these guys live the response would be “So your saying a car had driven by your house yelling things at you? And you want us to do what!?”
“Sounds like Epps instigated the argument with the several drive-bys and yelling. And that provoked Walker into throwing a fist.”
Reset occurs when Epps drives off and defendant and partner go down the road to confront and attack Epps.
You left out lying defendant.
You are the one stalking me. Now you are making physical threads. Sad.
You're a lying sack of crap, Gator.
As I have already explained.I simply happened upon this thread, that is all.
Actually, I'm not. Never picked cotton either.
But I'm pretty sure FR management would agree to having yourself renamed: EveryDayJackass (since that's basically what you are).
Does that hurt your feelings. Princess? Good. I'm glad, and I'm not the only one around here who intensely despises you.
The defendant lying? That's a possibility, but I'm no expert on the case. It appears you were though, prior to time the thread was even posted.
You've still failed to tell us which of the other two --- the witness -- or the police officer, are unreliable.
That's another question for you to answer, Princess. Or should we call you Abelino ---maybe?
If not --- tell everyone here who you are working for/are associated with, etc.
Which LE agency and/or DA's office is it? OR -- is it Federal?
Answer the questions, before asking me a single one more.
“Does that hurt your feelings. Princess? Good. I’m glad, “
LOL. You have a distorted view of reality.
“Answer the questions, before asking me a single one more.”
LOL. I have no desire to ask you questions. You are the one stalking me.
Doesn't matter. Do it anyway. It could lead to peace.
Or, keep being a total jackass, every_single_day. Your choice.
Telling lies is one thing. According to Scripture, all men are liars.
It is the making up lies and LOVING them that is what dooms one to Hell. I've noticed that once you find one (a pretty little lie) that you like -- you hold onto it with a death-grip, while also trying to continually rub it in people's faces.
You'd better repent, while you still have a chance.
