Keep Free Republic up and running (Vanity)

While Free Republic was down I read some snarky remarks about Free Republic and Jim Rob on Facebook.
Free Republic is supported 100% by our donations. The reason we do not have the best and top of the line servers and backup servers is money.
If Jim Rob were to make this a commercial site he would retire an extremely rich man. If it was a commercial site it would be like Breitbart. On Breitbart you wade through tons of ads and popups!
Hundred of thousands of people visit Free Republic. If just a small percentage became monthly donors there would be no Freepathons and Free Republic would have state of the art equipment.
Become a monthly donor as I. Even it is just a few dollars it all counts.

I am also an unabashed fan of FR.I contribute monthly and quarterly at a rate that I can't reasonably afford but do so because I spend hours reading FR every day. I post rarely as I would much rather read others’ commentary. I already know my opinion. However, I get miffed when I think about how many people can't be bothered to send in a token amount of money for the privilege having access to a beacon of freedom in an environment of ignorance of those who would gladly take away freedom of the individual to satisfy their own needs to feel that they have a right to give away our freedom to the forces of evil rampant in the world. Sorry about the rant;just my dos centavos...OH, and let it be known that I have no objection to JimRob becoming a rich man!

I took FR for granted for years. When it was down during inauguration, I went thru horrible withdrawals. FB doesn't attract the same caliber of people and was/is a poor substitute. I became a monthly donor that day. I encourage others to do the same.
For those that complain when the site is down: I've been on FR since 2001, started as a lurker. I only recall this site going down a handful of times. That's a pretty damn good track record.
