President Trump, 24 hours from his self-imposed deadline for picking a new F.B.I. director, told reporters on Thursday that he was “very close” to choosing a successor to James B. Comey, and he named Joseph I. Lieberman, the former Democratic senator and vice-presidential nominee, as a finalist.
But members of Mr. Trump’s staff — alarmed by his rapid embrace of Mr. Lieberman, a charming 75-year-old political operator with no federal law enforcement experience — have quietly urged him to take more time to make such a critical hire. By late Thursday, the president appeared increasingly likely to leave Friday for a nine-day foreign trip without picking a new director, according to three senior administration officials speaking on the condition of anonymity...
Others on Mr. Trump’s list are former Gov. Frank Keating of Oklahoma and former Representative Mike Rogers of Michigan, both Republicans. Mr. Rogers, a former F.B.I. agent, was endorsed by the agents’ association.
Also interviewed were two federal judges, Michael J. Garcia of the New York State Court of Appeals and Henry E. Hudson of Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.....

Assuming this is even true, why the hell would Trump even consider appointing Lieberman? More attempts to mollify the Democrats and garner favor with the Left; hasn’t worked and won’t work. It’s like he doesn’t even recognize who his (i.e., our) real enemies are.

At every historical inflection point he was involved in, he chose poorly.
* The Clinton Impeachment. He took to the floor w/ Senators Kerry and Moyahan and lambasted Clinton, but did not ask him to resign. We find out later, it was a Planned dog and pony show.
* The 33 days from hell with Al Gore and I am not going to accept the results mentality. He could have done what Nixon did and not go forward and ask Al Gore not to do so, and he didn't.
And correct me if I am wrong on this, wasn't his wife a lobbyist for Pfizer when the Kilo decision went up to the Supreme's and I have read that it was impart in deference to the both of them?

Unlike McCain, I at least respect Lieberman. Lieberman will do what he thinks is right. McCain will do what he thinks is good for his own sorry punk ass.
I don’t agree with Lieberman on many things but he at least has integrity. The biggest problem with him is his age.
If trump wants to right this train wreck..he needs to start looking at bannons whiteboard and remember why he was elected.

And he’s also the guy who ran for the Senate and VP in the same election. It’s as if he knew Algor wouldn’t win.
It strikes me that this dog-and-pony show is similar to what happens every time an NFL team fires its coach and proceeds to find his replacement. Its Rooney-Rule time in Trump’s world and some of the minority groups are represented. In the end, I hope Trump will pick a stealth guy with prosecutorial and law enforcement experience. Military experience in hard situations would be a plus. Find me a real Jack Reacher with a JD.
Seeing the kushners head back to NYC would boost my confidence in Trump
