MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A South Florida university awarded an honorary degree to Trayvon Martin, Saturday.
Martin’s parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, took the stage at Florida Memorial University’s commencement in Miami Gardens to receive a posthumous bachelor’s degree in aeronautical science on their son’s behalf.
Fulton and Martin said the ceremony was bittersweet, and now they’re passing on an inspirational message to Trayvon’s fellow graduates.

I always thought the Trayvon martin was bad news. but I also thought that the Zimmerman forced the situation...I don’t blame him for killing the kid because the kid did jump him when he approached but I feel Zimmerman had a artificial feeling of authority and did not understand how dangerous it was to approach the kid. when you don’t have training and you are relying on the fact that you are armed with a gun for security it does not leave you many options if the other person gets violent. at the time Zimmerman approached Trayvon Martin he could of just observed till the police came. something that might of not even happened as busy as the police can be sometimes. but he did make contact and he put himself into a situation where he had to shoot to kill the kid. I am sure that Zimmerman regrets that it happened but in my opinion it was bad decision making that put Zimmerman into the situation that he had to kill the kid.
Trayvon Martin and Zimmerman should be an object lesson for all and the rewarding the kid a degree posthumously devalues the gesture.

Yes, a song written by a writer talking about a generic “stoned” individual driving a cab sky-pilot, indicating a fairness of the emptiness and failure of a drug-ruined life all the way from teenhood.

Though it is possible Trayvon was armed (we'll never know if he “tossed” the weapon as he was being trailed or in some place they never found it, after he was shot) it would have been better if Zimmerman had engaged in hand-to-hand aikkido to detain. Or better yet, done what the dispatcher said to do- and keep an eye on him, police on the way.
Most resent this appropriation of what is arguably a difficult degree to obtain from a real college, for a real serious job.
Was at a horse riders clinic yesterday where the instructor is a German woman who now lives in N. Carolina. There was a boy about 9 yrs old among other students. She said that her best riders were previously gymnists and then looked at the boy and asked “were you a gymnist?” He nodded yes. She said “you’re a lousy rider for a gymnist”.
Told her later that it was amazing to hear the truth come out of a teacher’s mouth. She told me of another student who from the age of 11 to 18 never was able to succeed in riding because the teacher always told her she was doing fine. Finally she ended up with the German who told her the truth and she finally got better.
This degree is so pathetic...and they’re not doing anyone any favors for covering up the truth.

Except Travon saw Zimmerman shadowing him, and doubled back on him, to Zimmerman’s surprise. Zimmerman did not approach Trayvon.
Hussein was going to do a public event there, IIRC, when something big happened and he had to cancel.
