Recently within the American conservative and Christian zeitgeists I have noticed a growing positive view of Vladimir Putin and desire for a U.S.-Russia Christian military alliance against Islamic terrorism. As both a conservative Christian American and a policy specialist on Russia and Eastern Europe, this is a perilous line of thinking. The growing trend among conservatives to support Putins Russia is problematic because Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) engage in activities that run directly contrary to U.S. national security objectives, values of Western civilization writ large, and teaching of Christian scripture.
Perceptions that Russia is a defender of Christendom in an increasingly secular world are not based in reality. Any discussion concerning the relationship between Christianity and Russia cannot fail to take into consideration the Russian Orthodox Church, which dominates practically all aspects of Christianity in Russia.

What matters is they have many times more oil than we do.
They are going to win because of it, and there’s nothing we can do about it.
If there were peace, the military industrial complex would collapse and the bankers wars would decrease dramatically
Wouldn’t it of been easier to write this article about Saudi Arabia, Turkey or even China?
Here is a counterpoint:
https://souloftheeast.org/2014/09/06/springtime-for-russophobia/
Liberals started sting Russia when they put the Christmas trees back up.
Thinking like that is precisely what got ME Christians in the pickle they are experiencing now ... just like the one in 620 AD when they turned the other cheek to the advancing muslims who slaughtered them, bringing on the Dark Ages, the utter destruction of the ‘grain basket of Europe’ (Northern Africa), the near collapse of Christianity - the utter loss of Classical Christianity, and the destruction of most of the world’s scientific knowledge, literature, and history.
There’s a saying about this sort of historical behavior ...
Russia just warned the US about a 150 million dollar assassination contract on the dark web to kill Trump by the end of the month.
Payable in 82,900 Bitcoins worth about 1,800 each.

Russia is not our enemy.
... engage in activities that run directly contrary to U.S. national security objectives, values of Western civilization writ large, and teaching of Christian scripture...
It’s the communist baby killing democrats that are the enemy!
Too much information.
Russia is neither our ally nor our enemy. Russia has its interests and the United States has its own interests. In many cases, our interests overlap, and we should work together in those situations. In other instances, our interests are in conflict, and we should stay alert and wary in those areas.
No reason our relationship cannot be as it was under the Czars. They were cordial, even agreeing for the deal on Alaska. And the Czars weren’t saints by any stretch.
>Russian Orthodox Churchs perverted faith,
That article lost credibility fast.
Russia always stood by herself. There were short term alliances but never long term alliances like the special relationship between the US and Britain.
Worth thinking about.
Russian support for anti-American Iran and support for their atomic bomb and missile should tell us all we need to know about Putin’s “friendship” to the West.
>>the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) engage in activities that run directly contrary to U.S. national security objectives, values of Western civilization writ large, and teaching of Christian scripture.
Roman Catholics say that Protestants are a heretical sect. Evangelicals say that the RCC is the Whore of Babylon. The schism between the Roman Catholics and the Orthodox Catholics is 800 years old. Everyone says everyone else teaches things that run contrary to the teaching of Christian scripture.
The ROC is Christian. It may not be my flavor of Christian, but it is Christian. Someone else responded here by saying that this article needs to address Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and China who are NOT Christian at all before it launches attacks on the ROC and Russia’s faith.
It’s a small world. Not everyone needs to be our enemy. Even competitors don’t have to be an enemy...because there is a difference.
“If there were peace, the military industrial complex would collapse and the bankers wars would decrease dramatically”
There will NEVER be peace - in the sense of no threat of war. The only question is who sides with who. Since it’s hard to see us siding with China under any conditions, the real question is which way does Russia go. Personally, I’d prefer to have them come our way...rather than go over to China and line up against us.
But I don understand that there are some people who still haven’t heard that the Cold War ended (over 25 years ago).
We don’t have to be totally compatible to be allies. All we have to do is identify commonalities of national interest and move based on that. Also where we clash on subjects and work on sanded down the rough spots. I just don’t know if Americans know how pagan and without honor most of our leaders are. They not only do not hold faith to be personal and essential to life, to them it is like a St Christophers medal. The same goes for inclusion of perversity of the sexual nature. America is rife with it, and that spells doom unless we turn ourselves around. Trans, homosexuality and libertine attitudes are the nails in any nations coffin.
We should be neutral with Russia as with every other country. There is a cadre of posters in this forum, mainly in the Russia and ME threads, who purposefully lie that those of us who aren’t reflexively pro-war are “blame America first” and/or love dictators.
It should also be noted that in the past 50 years, while the national attention was focused on foreign hobgoblins, the character of our own government has greatly changed and massive social pathologies have been imposed on We The People.
The USA and Russia should become a single country.
OMG...
Russia was our ally in WWII to defeat Hitler so the two sides *can* work together and, I believe, should work together in defeating Islamic terror. After decades of communist control, I am not ready to see Russia as part of a Christian brotherhood but, in time, God may choose to do so. Many see Revelations as a World War where the “armies of the north” (i.e. America and Russia, principally) invade the Middle East to defeat the armies of the Islamic countries and the Far East.
I, personally, take a wait-and-see attitude about the whole thing but I am fine with encouraging better relations between Moscow and the West. I don’t think Putin is some irredeemable bully. I believe the Left’s sudden fascination with Russia as the source of the world’s evil is laughable since they were the ones trying to convince us that the Soviets were actually good.
