Univ. of Penn School of Veterinary Medicine estimates annual cost of owning a large dog to be in excess of $3K. These irresponsible folks could afford that but now need $$ from others to bury their dead child.

To state the obvious, supposing their dog killed someone else's child? No insurance either I suspect.
