FOX News national security expert Catherine Herridge told The Five last night that FBI Director James Comey was fired because he refused to reveal the Obama administration “unmaskers” to President Trump.
The Obama administration spied on and unmasked the identities and conversations of several Americans in 2016 including officials close to President-elect Donald Trump.
Comey was fired because he was incompetent, his testimony was all over the place and he is a pure political sleazeball.
First, I don’t doubt that there were other reasons as to why he was terminated. If they were relevant to the public knowing, they would have been included in the reasoning. As well, also consider that other reasons may relate to a possible investigation, and releasing such information would be hypocritical of their reasons for removing him from office (if you read the entire 3 page Rosenstein recommendation). However, speculating (which is what this is as she has no actual proof) on what those reasons are is poor journalism. Unnamed sources are either complete BS or at worst leaks.

The reasons giving for the firing existed from day one of this admin. He could have fired Comey Day One. There are always other reasons for firings that don’t make it on paper.
I have no problem with the very real possibility that Comey was covering up for the leakers and unmaskers. It makes a lot of sense. Comey has been playing a dangerous game and Trump stopped it. The fact that he paid some washed out spy in Britain to pursue the Russian prostitute pissing story tells you how off the rails Comey had become. There are a lot of reasons to get rid of him, Trump admin mentioned the one that the DEMs can’t argue with as the primary. Who cares what the final reason was. There’s plenty of very good reason to remove him. Comey needs investigating and so does the acting FBI director. I hope Trump can get someone in there quick.
Perhaps it was his own personal security reasons...
I watched "The Five" last night and Dumb as a rock Perino was visibly pi$$ed that Jess said Comey was corrupt. Perino said anyone who has dedicated their life to public service should not be referred to as corrupt. Well, Perino how about Bill & Hitllery does Perino think those two are selfless "public servants."
Comey is as dirty as the Clintons. Comey is just trying to appear squeaky Kleen!
Wow, what planet is she from. What about the head of the IRS,Lois Lerner? What about the hudreds of public officials prosecuted and jailed for crimes? Is she really that naïve? If so, she shouldn't be on an opinion show.
I did, her statement suggests that this was a reason for his firing. I don’t disagree that Comey was slow balling the process, but to correlate this as a reason is speculation.

I think Trump decided against removing him for the fact that he had no one else in the DOJ and didn’t want evidence to magically disappear without someone he could trust in command. Sessions wasn’t confirmed yet and the Deputy AG, who oversees the Director of the FBI, was also not in place until 2 weeks ago.
Right. The sudden firing was to keep him from scrubbing evidence. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have operators still on the inside ready to help him

Herridge does not seem to have cited such a reason in any other medium.

That’s true and I think that could be part of the reason, but I was less impressed by her reporting on this last night than I usually am. Time will tell.
I think it depends entirely on the quality of the reporter. In the case of WaPo, NYT, CNN, etc. the term "unnamed sources" almost always means "completely fabricated". In Catherine's case, it's different because in my humble opinion, she's always been completely accurate in these situations.
Comey was fired because he was a corrupt POS who destroyed the credibility and integrity of the FBI for personal and political gain.
Every investigation that the FBI conducts from here on out are doing to be second-guessed as possibly being politically motivated, or worse, the agency will be seen as a bludgeon to settle political scores.
Catherine Herridge is GREAT, and so is Jennifer Griffin. Those two ladies are ON IT!
