President Trumps sudden firing of FBI Director James B. Comey is bad for the country and will not be the end of the Trump-Russia affair, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) told a group of foreign diplomats and experts Tuesday night.
Although McCain did not directly accuse the White House of firing Comey to thwart the FBIs investigation into the Trump campaigns possible Russia ties, he did say that if that was the intention, it would fail.
This scandal is going to go on. Ive seen it before, McCain told a meeting of the Munich Security Conference core group. This is a centipede. I guarantee you there will be more shoes to drop, I can just guarantee it. Theres just too much information that we dont have that will be coming out.
He called Trumps actions against Comey unprecedented and said the position of FBI director has held special meaning in American public life dating back decades.
I remember the Saturday Night Massacre, McCain told the mostly European and American guests, referring to the 1973 incident when President Nixon fired the special prosecutor looking into the Watergate break-in, Archibald Cox.
Probably the most respected individual in all of the American government is probably the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, McCain said. Im very sorry that this has happened.
The event was off the record, but McCain gave me permission to place his comments on the record. He said that Trump had the legal basis to fire Comey but that his decision would have long-term negative consequences.

In McCain's (Songbird) case, torture did work.
WHY do you wonder? Do you need to see MORE treason by McCain before you make a decision?
McCains Tokyo Rose broadcast, treated very well while fellow POWs were beaten
John, you lost to Obama...badly
You can’t be the shadow POTUS.
I know that sucks, but suck it up...
He learned well from his captors.
“He doesnt have any information connecting Trump to Russians, yet hes going to get it out somehow.”
Indeed FRiend and so he will suffer the same fate as other hyper political Trump hating Leftists.
I’m good with that.
What’s amazing is Lindsey Graham is actually defending the firing. Even said he’s seen no evidence supporting the Trump/Russia thing.
There will be more shoes to drop
What does McQueeg mean by that?
The man is an enigma wrapped in a puzzle wrapped in a pile of warm horse droppings.
Well, you can bet that McCain did NOT foot the bill.
Nothing like to dogged investigative journalists digging out the details.

LOL!
The only reason a “Republican” Senator goes after a Republican president is that he is compromised and is scared to death he just lost the cover Comey was giving him.
Sounds like somebody slipped Pandsey’s dossier to the Trump administration.
>>McCain is as dumb as a box of rocks.
Hillary goes down, he goes down - both of them riding in the Regime Change Investment Club’s crISIS canoe.
McCain gets money from George Soros!
Resign, Senator McCain. You dumped your first wife who waited for you throughout your Vietnam years, for a younger woman and beer heiress who could finance your political campaigns. That shows your moral character is mud. For you to try to tie this chaos in Washington to Watergate, a traumatic time in the U.S., is despicable. As an American citizen, I wonder if a coup is going on. You are going behind the President’s back to conduct mischief with foreign sources. I’m disheartened and confused and am raising this issue to God in prayer, to protect this country from you and the Democrats who are confusing the public and the world with false, self-serving narratives. What is it, drug money behind the scenes?
I have very sad memories of watching FR cheerlead for this man to become President.
Wow, What a broadcast - Tokyo Rose / John McCain 1969 radio broadcast. Thanks for that link.
