Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. quickly showed up in stories speculating about possible replacements for fired FBI director James Comey.
A Reuters story noted that both Clarke and New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani campaigned for Trump, but added: Both men would be seen as highly political nominees for an agency designed to be independent.
Three words: Sheriff. David. Clarke, tweeted conservative commentator John Podhoretz.

Very true, but the FBI needs to be seen as above politics and the next director has to show focus on law and order. Besides, they will need Senate approval.
New Orleans has a higher murder rate than Chicago as well.
Seriously?
Baltimore might be in that category as well.
You’ve been a Freeper since 2013, and you still don’t know Sheriff David Clarke??? TSK...TSK....GET UP TO SPEED!!!
I like Rudy for the job. He had experience as a NYC FBI ‘Top Cop’ back in the day. Don’t know if he is interested, he has his own security business and his age may be a consideration.
Rudy is still too much of a DOJ insider for my taste. I think whoever it is should be someone completely outside of the FBI and DOJ. I just don’t trust anyone from that background not really clean house.
I meant to say, “to really clean house”.
There is no non-partisan FBI. They are all Soros types presently, from McCabe on down.
Never make it through the Senate.
10-4, good buddy!
YES!
Just think Arpaio only tougher and black. Deep Conservative views. Law and Order man. Milwaukee is a dem strong hold, and he keeps on getting re-elected. Has to run as a dem, but is as tough as Arpaio.

“Never make it through the Senate.’
That’s why you recess appoint an absolute Pit Bull of an FBI director over the Memorial Day weekend. Someone so brazen and counter to the DC mentality, that shocks the establishment to the core, then the senate will break their neck to confirm whoever you put forward that seems more reasonable, in their view.
Why not just put through the candidate that you want to begin with? Why set Clarke up for failure by appointing him to a job he is completely unsuited for? Clarke is a county sheriff. He runs the jail. He doesn't run police work. Send him to Justice to run the Federal Bureau of Prisons if you're that high on him. At least there he's dealing with something he's had experience with.
I like him, but not even close to a chance. The next FBI director will not have noticeable political ties.

Former NY Police Commissioner Ray Kelly was a personal recommendation of Joe DiGenova in an interview he gave this morning.
And Comey wasn't?
Saw this morning that Clarke is being asked to run against Tammy Baldwin for her Senate seat. We could use him in the Senate more than in the FBI, IMHO.
