There was a Zeppelin tribute band named “Led Zep Again” that played here at another small venue a month or so before Alice.
The ads claimed that Jimmy Page called them “The closest you’d find” to a live LZ show.
I had to work, so I missed it. :(
I went too to Desert Trip 2017 brought my husband and 3 kids, plus daughter’s fiance with. They all did a really great performance. Only thing that pissed me off was Roger Waters and his politics that they were not to talk about, but he did anyway and got fined for it I heard.
Overall I would pay the big bucks all over again to see them. If LZ is doing 2018 I am there...

I don't think he's too old to still play... it's the grind of being on tour that takes its toll on most 70 plus year olds.
An exception to that rule might be our current president, Donald "inexhaustible" Trump.
Yeah, Waters was a drag. He started out talking all patriotic and how he helped out at Walter Reed Hospital, then he comes out with the giant Trump pig. I took some satisfaction hearing it crashed the second weekend. Many in our section walked out on him. I tried to, but the sound was amazing. Glad to 2knkw I wasn’t the only FReeper there

That’s exactly why a “reunion” is impossible, it’ll never happen because it can’t.

Jeff Beck is the only one of them I’d pay money to go see again. Seems about ageless with a great temperament and the most talent of any of them.
Ok, I’ve wanted to post on one of these band threads for a while but this time I couldn’t resist! LED ZEPPLIN was BY FAR the biggest let down concert I’ve ever experienced! When I saw your post, I just had to concur. Oh my gosh, such a terrible performance, it was embarrassing!
On another note, I was on stage with the WHO when they played the Grande Ballroom in Detroit. I was only 15!! My brother helped them set up (just cuz he was there) and he was on stage with me. My only 15 minutes of fame! LOL!
Other notables ....Joplin was a train wreck, the Rolling Stones AWFUL, and the BEST .... The Moody Blues, and Elton John. I’ve seen hundreds; I could talk concerts all day long!

Ok, I can top that. We were playing the Troubadeaur in LA on an “open mic” night and had a whole 1-hour set. Just as we started the Who walked in and sat to our right. They stayed the whole set, and when we finished & got off stage Townsend, drunk as a skunk, slapped me on the back and said “Good show, wot?”
We were the Allman Brs. guests at their Cincy concert backstage, and in Flint MI Mark Farner’s brother came in and jammed with us. We opened for Steppenwolf (real deal, not a fake band) and Savoy Brown and the James Gang right after Walsh left & they had Tommy Bolin.
My idols growing up were Vanilla Fudge & Carmine Appice. I saw them open for Hendrix circa 69 and they blew him off the stage. My friend became a quasi promoter and promoted two concerts with “Cactus” when Appice & Bogert left VF.
About 6 years ago I by accident hooked up with Mark Stein, lead singer of VF, and his wife said I needed to write his bio, and I said I would if and only if it was a whole history of Rock and Roll, not just him. They agreed. The book is called “You Keep Me Hangin’ On,” and it’s really a good history of rock, often weaving in VF/Mark’s story. We couldn’t sell it to ANY publisher. Rock books do badly, and are the most stolen book of any genre! So he self-published. It hasn’t done well, but it’s a great book cuz Mark played with almost everyone-—Whitesnake, Alice Cooper, Dave Mason, even jammed with Michael Jackson and at a FL “Woodstock” VF played on stage with Joplin (drunk) and Johnny Winter-—and NO ONE got a tape or video.
After the band in which I was playing drums finished, Vinnie's band (which includes his wife and, that night, included Juma Sultan, who played with Hendrix at Woodstock - also a very nice man who like Vinnie has VERY callused hands) played several songs. Vinnie then uncorked the BEST cover of "Hear My Train A Comin'" ever...I think he channeled Jimi that night.
Cactus' studio version of Parchman Farm is one of the single greatest examples of molten blues-based rock ever. Guaranteed to make you go 90 without realizing it.

Yes, Jim McCarty/Cactus. We were all abuzz about the Fudge breaking up, cuz we thought they were the most amazing band ever. But we knew that the weaker link (though he is a very good guitarist and perfect for the Fudge) was Vinny. So we were anticipating Cactus when McCarty came out to the front of the stage and just began wailing. Then he launched into “Swim.” My friend, who promoted them, got them for four straight nights at a club in Phoenix-—loud as hell-—and we were there, every night, all night.
