President Trump on Tuesday called for a "good shutdown" in September to fix the "mess in government.
"The reason for the plan negotiated between the Republicans and Democrats is that we need 60 votes in the Senate which are not there! We
either elect more Republican Senators in 2018 or change the rules now to 51%. Our country needs a good "shutdown" in September to fix mess!" he wrote in a series of tweets.

HOORAY President Donald J. Trump
I hope you are correct
Just glancing back through your posting history, if you were an “avid” Trump supporter, it’s a wonder he got elected at all....
Don’t wait for September.
Veto this monster CR and shut it down NOW!
What Trump needs to do is veto this rat CR bill and let Congress over ride his veto. I suspect enough Rs will side with the Ds to do that. It’s a loss for him but it exposes the lying worthless Rs that are really Ds and we can try to vote them out in 2018. Plus Trump will be seen as fighting for his agenda to MAGA. His popularity with the base will go up. Yeah Trump will lose the funding battle but he lives to fight another day. If he signs the CR the Trump presidency is effectively over.
Like it or not the battle is now, we only get weaker by giving the rats an uncontested victory. We elected Trump to fight the establishment not give in to them. Maybe he won’t win. I would not hold that against him but to give in without even trying? Unacceptable.
"Pay attention?" Hell, you can't avoid it. The Reps are beating us over the head with their treachery.
Wrote my worthless Rep Congressman this morning:
"If you're going to talk, act, and vote like a Democrat why should I vote for a Republican? The Democrats are more competent than amateur Statist Republicans like yourself. I cast my last Republican vote last November."
“His transparent effort by Tweet to have it both ways might appeal to some of his cult followers...”
Cult followers?
That you Hillary?
How many times has Trump been “over”?
How is Trump responsible for the Republican Congressional travesty? Ryan said he would never support Trump, remember? And the Republicans in the House choose to support Ryan.
I remember every time Reagan submitted a budget, the Democrats would say that it was DOA. It usually was. Then the Democrats spent like crazy and blamed it all on Reagan.
Trade off by destroying progress on the biggest two agenda items now: repealing/replacing Obamacare and tax reform for a war over a three month temporary spending bridge.
Correct. POTUS can only fight so many nuclear wars at once. Sadly, those tantruming in this thread can’t see the forest through the trees. That they didn’t learn a thing after the travel ban fiasco shows they will never learn, IMO.
I echo your sentiments.
And now we really agree on something.
A good dose of laxative in DC would work
“Our country needs a good “shutdown” in September to fix mess!” he (President Trump) wrote in a series of tweets.
What’s wrong with right now, Master of Deals, Holder of the Veto?
The mouse in my pocket and I are sick of “kicking the can down the road”. Next September, rinse and repeat.
Swamp, meet Swamp.
In September the excuse will be that we are entering an election cycle (aren’t we always) and that this is no time for a shutdown.
Now was the time to draw the line. The President could have come before the people, pointed out how destructive this kind of ridiculous blow-out spending bill is, and that we are going to face up to it once and for all.
Voters would have risen up in support.
Instead, apparently, the “saner heads” like Priebus, like Jared, Cohn et al., have prevailed.
So even with the House, the Senate and the Presidency in our control, we are once again going to fall in line behind Ryan, Pelosi, Schumer and the rest.
People can pretend they didn’t know what Planned Parenthood was up to before the O’Keefe videos came out. But they can’t pretend any longer. How can anyone vote to fund these people?
They are funding PP, and they are refusing to fund the Wall, which was Trump’s signature issue. He should absolutely refuse to sign this budget, and he should absolutely allow the government to go into a “shutdown”.
He says it needs to happen. But he isn’t going to go there.
I dont think its so obvious. Im looking how it plays out longer term rather than grabbing my baseball and going home in a snit.
LOL. This has to be the tenth Never Trump and surrender monkey “conservative” tantrum in Trump’s first 100+ days. Some folks just never learn.
The battlefield isn't prepared for that, now.
‘Holder of the Veto’
you familiar with the term overide ?
how about marginalize?
