John Kasich Sounds Like He's Over The Republican Party
BuzzFeed ^ | 04/28/2017 | Henry J. Gomez

The Ohio governor ran for the Republican nomination and lost. Now, in his new book and on the road, he's critical of the party and frequently noting the day will come when an independent could win the presidency. Is there space for Republicans like John Kasich in the party anymore?

Is John Kasich still a Republican?

The Ohio governor and mainstay of the party’s mainstream is out this week with a book that at times reads like an angry breakup letter.

“Oh yeah, I’m a Repub… ,” Kasich trailed off, conspicuously unable to finish the word in his rapid-fire stream of consciousness from the front seat of a big SUV barreling toward New Hampshire on Wednesday night. Kasich finished second in the state’s hugely important presidential primary last year. That was enough to make it one of the few high points of his campaign and, also conspicuously, one of the first book-signing stops on his national tour.

“I’m pro-environment, I’m pro-trade, I’m anti-debt, I’m pro-immigration, I’m pro-NATO,” Kasich continued. “And when I look at the party, I see it moving in a different direction. But I’ve always said I have the right to define what it means to be a Republican and a conservative.”

At a time when he clearly wants to remain a player on the national stage, Kasich is struggling with his political identity — and so is his party. If and where he fits in a GOP led by Donald Trump will say a great deal about the kind of Republicans who can succeed in it, and whether there’s still space for the open and internationalist values Kasich and other Republicans long have cherished.

Exactly, and that helps explain Trump’s V and why so many have left the Demwits. No wonder they have to keep importing dumbs**** from Mexico and overseas. No one else in their right mind votes for their extremist, pandering candidates.

He is a liberal RINO, plain and simple.

Just the fact that he says he is “Pro-immigration” he slanders conservatives by painting us as “anti-immigration”.

We are generally anti-ILLEGAL immigration, and anti-UNLIMITED immigration, particularly from countries who wish us ill (immigration from them at the expense of countries that might send us useful workers who want to be Americans)

Could be they were referring to him as a MALE man, as opposed to his son, whose bag would seem to have nothing in it.

lol

If all politicians would self identify as what they really are, politics would be far less messy. Of course, that would severely reduce the number of Republicans. It appears that the Democrats have few politicians, if any who are not at heart Democrats. But Republicans have a massive number who are at heart Democrats, or who lean to the left and truly are not comfortable. I wish they would come out of the closet and go to their real family and quit mucking things up for the rest of us.

An Independent did win the presidency. He hijacked the Republican Party to do it because the Dims wouldn’t let him in. If the Pubbies finish rejecting him he could build a non-ideological independent party.

Kaysick is not Republican or conservative. His overarching belief is that Kaysick is good person and that he can help people which makes him above the unwashed.

So, if he’s defining it, being a Republican means being a Democrat. Of course, he’s just saying out loud what too many in the Uniparty already think. They just have to “define” themselves differently, temporarily, in the elections. But their votes, the votes that matter, once they get to Sodom on the Potomac, tell the truth.

He’s a real nowhere man.

Sitting in his nowhere land.

Making all his nowhere plans.

For nobody.

Why do we see periodic articles such as this, about identity crises within the GOP, but never hear such stories about Democrats???

Democrats work to secure power by ANY means possible; Republicans work to secure reelection by ANY means possible.

The Democrats have moved markedly left in recent decades, but nobody in the media talks about that.

Fellow travelers.

could JFK be nominated as a Democrat presidential candidate today??? Would a JFK fit into today’s Democrat party? That sort of question is never asked.

No and never.

I have heard that Hubert Humphrey believed in strong family values, and decried the growth of the permanent welfare state, accompanied by growing numbers of out of wedlock births and single mothers. He was a strong liberal in his day, but would he fit into today’s Democrat party???

See previous answer.

His true color has emerged... Dark Blue, the red dye has finally washed clean away. Conservative always knew his color was feigned and fading, now it is completely gone.

The night he won his state in the primaries was something out of twilight zone to watch. He was on that stage high on his win. He was talking like a madman, how he was going to the White House.
