No one voted for Trump because of the Access Hollywood tape. They voted for him because of his issues; most prominently, his promise to build a big beautiful wall. And whos going to pay for it? MEXICO!
You cant say that at every campaign rally for 18 months and then not build a wall.
Do not imagine that a Trump double-cross on the wall will not destroy the Republican Party. Oh, well get them back. No, you wont. Trump wasnt a distraction: He was the last chance to save the GOP.
Millions of Americans who hadnt voted in 30 years came out in 2016 to vote for Trump. If he betrays them, theyll say, You see? I told you. Theyre all crooks.
No excuses will work. No fiery denunciations of the courts, the Democrats or La Raza will win them back, even if Trump comes up with demeaning Twitter names for them.
It would be an epic betrayal worse than Bush betraying voters on no new taxes. Worse than LBJ escalating the Vietnam War. There would be nothing like it in the history of politics.
Hes the commander in chief! He said hed build a wall. If he cant do that, Trump is finished, the Republican Party is finished, and the country is finished.

Congress and the lobbyists are the problem. I hope Trump ends up bringing his case to the people and we flood Congress with calls, letters...whatever...they way we did when the Tea Party started. There should be enough of us if we don’t get scared of by the fear of being called that horrible combination of 6 letters of the alphabet: “racist”.
“He had no idea of the powers of creative incompetence,”
That’s good.
I would think his wake up call would be his recent working with Paul Ryan.
At least McConnell held fast on the Supreme Court. Not much has gotten Past Ryan to the Senate, so we don’t know what he’ll do if anything gets there.
I agree, he’s bad, but so far, he really hasn’t had the opportunity to screw Trump, except with Gorsuch, and he did real well (in NOT screwing him).
Ryan, on the other hand.....
Trump as candidate was being a salesman - and to a degree that is fine. Talking about “We’re going to build a big beautiful wall” sounds good on stage. Maybe he even believed it at one point - but I never did. But I know that he is concerned about securing our border, more than Hillary anyways.
What he may have thought at the time, and I think has discussed more now, that it isn’t just a “wall”, but viewing it in the entirety as securing our border. Maybe a “wall” in some places, but probably more like a fence. And increased manpower and technology in areas where a physical border can’t or won’t be built. Of course discussing all of the various options and means of securing the border doesn’t go over so well in a sound-bite.
I was reading about the 700 miles of wall that was promised to Dubya. They completed part of it awhile ago - it took ten years just to get through the process of emminent domain.
The only trouble with promising a wall is that he might lose the support of those that thought that a wall was really a feasible option. Unless of course he can prove to them (us!) that after a year or two he can show the huge improvements that have been made in securing the border (wall, fences, equipment, personnel, sharks with frikin’ lasers, etc.)
I would think some things, such as personnel and budget allocations, could be done by Executive Order.
Trump made a contract on immigration with the American voters: (1) Wall, (2) End Obama executive orders and actions giving amnesty to illegal aliens, (3) End H1B, etc. Well, the day one promises came and went without being honored, he might be doing something on H1B, but hasn’t killed the program, and the wall? Well, seems like he’s trading it off for something else. That’s not necessarily a double-cross, but his credibility is at risk. If Trump sells out, in my opinion he’s one and done as a president. I expect more of Trump, hold fast, even let the Democrats and RINO republicans shut down government if that’s what it takes. Instead, Trump’s the one rolling over. Disappointing.
So far I’m pretty happy with Trump. Maybe he’s cutting g a deal to wait til Sept and get more money for the wall. But at some point he’s going to have to follow through or I agree with Ann.
It will also destroy his legacy. I believed his ego was big enough that he would not allow himself to fail. I said that during the campaign. He would not allow his presidency to be a failure. Not to mention, 2020 would be devastating.
Lyn’ Ted just wants his 15 minutes. His latest polls put him rightfully at risk on reelection. This latest move gets him headlines but that is all it will accomplish. El Chapo’s money, if the government can get hands on it, already goes to law enforcement.
We have already seen a climbdown on the prosecution of Hillary Clinton, we have seen a fiasco if not a climbdown on the promises concerning the repeal and replacement of Obama care, now the integrity of the wall metaphor is also on the block
There are only so many climbdowns that a bombastic politician like Donald Trump can make and retain credibility. I hope he retains his credibility. To do that he must learn the art of presidential gravitas and his Kool-Aid drinking supporters should learn to take a grain of salt with their Kool-Aid.
And who is supposed to control the budget?
Oh, right. Congress.
But somehow it’s Trump’s fault that Congress is full of backstabbing cucks. It’s like he’s dealing with a Democrat majority.
I’d take you a lot more seriously if you attacked the source of the problem instead of whining about the President CONSTANTLY.
“You do realize how stupid that sounds, right? Hes known Ivanka for, you know, her entire life. Youd think that if shes going to make him so super liberal, shed have done it long before the election.”
Well while it may sound stupid, the fact of the matter is that Ivanka and her husband both need to vacate the administration immediately. With the other two branches of government thwarting his efforts to govern, he doesn’t need these two trying to launch alternative liberal initatives. They both need to go home, raise their children, and butt out of the country’s business.
>The 3D chess thing was always a little much.
Trump plays 3D chess when it comes to persuading people, however the guy you’re replying to is just too stupid to get how that works so he regually posts up how stupid Trump is and so such.
Trump’s normal tactics in getting things done is owning the downside. If Trump loses on the wall now he’ll use it to win later or in another area. Already Trump’s loss on Obamacare is destroying Ryan’s approval ratings which Trump can use to his advantage in a verity of ways. That’s always been the secret of Trump’s success, he finds a way to gain either by winning or losing on something.
3-D chess includes signing a budget with funding for Planned Parenthood but zero for the wall.
Maybe that is 4-D chess?
No whine here, muscle man. And aren’t you playing “Look at the Squirrel” when it comes down to SIGNING this awful budget?
I can understand why the President would want someone there as support, especially in that fetid swamp of corruption known as DC.
You’re probably correct that it’s not their place, especially with children to raise.
But this is a minor thing on the radar in my opinion.
No, I certainly do not.
However, my course of action is based upon what I think, and not upon what they think.
