Newly released police documents claim that Dr. David Dao, the passenger who was shown being dragged off a United Airlines flight on April 9 in widely shared videos, behaved violently toward the officers removing him, but his lawyer dismissed this account as utter nonsense.
The phone videos taken by other passengers set off waves of criticism and multiple statements from the airline, each more apologetic than the last.
The police reports were released Monday afternoon in response to a freedom of information request filed by The New York Times and other news organizations. The releases included audio of the original call to the Chicago Department of Aviation police, personnel reports about the officers and an incident report that appeared to blame Dr. Dao for his own injuries.

He chose a different route. I hope it goes to a jury. But probably it won't.
Do you have a link to it? It would seem that video of that behaviour would be all over FR and You Tube....
Not even a B&B operates under federal laws as stringent as those that govern Common Carriers. United screwed up. Dao’s payday will be ginormous.
He ask for it, he got it. He should pay United for the mess he caused.

I took a lot of heat for nailing this creep as a scammer on day one. He was begging for a hostile altercation with $$$$ flashing in his eyes thinking of the suit he planned to bring against the airline.
LOCK HIM UP!
That is different. But to me staying in a house is different than a plane that has a schedule to keep.
Familiarize yourself with the conditions of your ticket purchase.
If you go violent on a flight I’m on, and you go nuts, I will side with the crew.
Fair warning to adult children...
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Perfectly stated, and I agree 100%! Especially the warning to ADULT CHILDREN.
United’s own ToS didn’t allow them to kick Dao off at that point. Why people are so eager to defend United for their mistreatment of this passenger is beyond me
That’s true.
But imagine driving all day to get to a hotel that you reserved and after falling asleep, you’re awakened and told they need the room for a janitor or housekeeper.
You must act like an adult. Get dressed and keep driving.
You have no rights in the totalitarian regime. Follow orders or you will be beaten.
If I saw you, Dao or anyone else acting like a 5 year old and throwing a tantrum Id have given up my seat. First of all no flight means THAT much to me, secondly the spectacle was humiliating for all on board and thirdly I dont want to fly on a plane with known mental cases.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Well and truly said.
Dao was never violent. To be a scammer, he’d have needed to know in advance United would knock his teeth out. That’s a stupid premise.
Don’t bother with the facts. Your hallucinations of what happened suit your narrative much better.
rubbish! the earlier video shows him being even calmer and less violet.
the violet came after he was bruised
“But to me staying in a house is different than a plane that has a schedule to keep”
The proprietor of the B&B also has a schedule to keep. Should he call the mall cops to drag you out of your bed because his employee needs the room you paid for?
Only in a land run by totalitarians.
This is about norms of behavior and Dao stepped over the line IMO. I mean the way he is clutching on to the armrest like a 2 year old. It was ridiculous. It is one of the craziest things I’ve seen a grown man do. There is just something really wrong here with his behavior.
Ofc. Long was able to grab the subject and pull him away from the windown (sic) seat towards the aisle. But suddenly, the subject started flailing and fighting. Consequently, the subject was able to knocked (sic) the right hand of Ofc. Long off of his arm and shoulder area, which caused the subject to fall, hit, and injured (sic) his mouth on the armrest on the other side of the aisle. At this time, Ofc. Long was able to regain control of the subject and was able to remove the subject from the aircraft.

Well if some security guard, sans gun and with no authority to arrest you, drags you out of that bed, knocks your teeth out, breaks your nose and bashes your head in, take comfort from the fact that you had it coming to you.

Golden rule of survival.........never fight police instructions. Better place to fight police is in courts.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Common sense rule, but one easily ignored if you’re looking for an altercation and a chance for big bucks in a suit against a large corporation.
So the 69 yo man clutched an armrest. That is his great crime.
Here’s the catch. United isn’t allowed to beat a passenger to a pulp for the ‘crime,’ of ‘clutching an armrest.’ In your world, ‘clutching an armrest,’ would be a felony, but fortunately we live in the real world.
Now, UAL kills harmless bunnies. UAL is incompetent. End of story.
