That answer is obvious. It takes away power. If citizens are allowed to keep more of what they earn, they need government less.

I think there is a ‘gift’ angle to this. If you introduce tax cuts...it goes directly back to those who pay taxes....NOT the bottom 45-percent, who pay ZERO taxes. So it ends up mostly in the hands of the working-class and upper-class. You can discuss this a hundred different ways, but it’s not being ‘gifted’ back to the lower 45-percent of Americans.
