I really don’t get French politics, lol.
What throws me is that in Britain, the party leader is it’s presidential candidate.
In France it seems you step down as leader to run.
I’m in the dark on this as well.
From the Trump playbook....
UNEXPECTED.
French dims discombobulated
Neither do I. How does socialist Le Pen get called "Far Right"?
And Macron ... the guy who wants capitalistic reforms -- slashing taxes and spending; who is actually calling France's 35-hour work week into question -- is left of center. I don't get it.
I really dont get French politics, lol.

I know ‘TIC’ etc
BUT
That is a practice we should push for here.
Bob Dole is the ONLY one I can recall Ever quitting a ‘job’ to RUN for a higher job.
I figure when the likes of Kerry, McCain, etal make the finals, they should resign the seat they are holding - in ‘fairness’ to their constituents who are virtually being ‘deprived’ of representation while THEIR Senator/Rep are running for a higher office.
AND, IMNSHO one is not very confident in winning if he doesn’t have the gonads to devote ALL his time to move up.
In a perfect world they all would RESIGN once they throw in their hat but will gladly settle for the final two and their NAMED cohorts.
To be a leader in France you have to know how to surrender... it's what they do.
If you are not on your 4th marriage, haven't slept with your teacher when 15 years old, or don't keep 3 mistresses, then its tough to get traction with the public.
Then stop commenting and making yourself look stupid.’LOL’
