Americas most iconic chocolate, Hersheys, is slimming down. Hershey announced earlier this week that half of its candy bars and candy products will drop to 200 calories or less. They expect the shift to be fully in place by the year 2022.
In a press release, the company stated that it expects to meet the goal in two ways. First of all, they will be reformulating their products. Additionally, they will adjust the size of certain items.
The changes will affect standard and king-sized items.
We cant help but wonder if this means theyll merely be getting smaller, which at first is like, not cool. Well have to buy more candy bars to make it through our eighteenth bingeing of Buffy. But its probably a good idea, though.
By the end of 2018, the company aims to apply easy-to-read caloric information to the front of all of its products.
We aim to delight our consumers and these steps will provide an even wider range of portion options and clear information to help them select treats that fit their lifestyle, Hershey president and CEO Michele Buck said.
The changes were inspired by customer feedback, according to Hershey.
Were calling it informed choice where I can walk up to the display and if I want a king size, thats my choice, but I want to know what Im buying and how many calories are involved, spokesman Jeff Beckman told USA Today.
We like the sound of choice and freedom of information. As long as our Hershey bars still taste like our childhood dreams, were cool.

Maybe they got the idea from Toblerone:
Ridiculous. There is already calorie info on every product manufactured by big brands in the U.S.
Do you have a webpage for your shop?
One of the great things about springtime in our area is that grocery stores carry Coca-Cola from Mexico for the kosher-observing families at Passover. Mexican coke is made with real sugar, not corn syrup, and tastes like the Cokes of our childhoods in the 50s.
Some of the small hispanic food markets carry Coke from Mexico all year round.
From a study done at Tufts University, "But the small group of volunteers with impaired NVC saw dramatic changes after just a month of cocoa intake. Neurovascular coupling improved by more than double, and scores on standard cognitive tests jumped 30%."
Remember that time (1985) when Coca Cola decided that its customers wanted a change? Hershey’s Classic anyone?

The info regarding ownership is out of date by just three years....gotta love the franchise.... :^)
We differ from the franchise since we have our own receipes and more flavors....

However, no Hershey junk for me...I get it at a local shoppe here that hand-makes high-quality candy in the back of the store.
My favorite application of dark chocolate is Dark Chocolate Bark (with almonds) that owner Michelle personally produces.
It's expensive as all get-out...but well worth the cost. My family looks for me to ship some of these "barks" to them every Christmas, which I do...and it almost sends me to the poor house!
But Christmas connotes "all things bright and beautiful" and my dark chocolate bark gifts are that.....plus being scrumptous, too. So I'm happy to pack 'n ship this manna from heaven at Christmas, and sometimes for birthdays, also.
Bon Appetit to dark chocolate lovers everywhere!
Leni
Thank you, it looks decidedly decadent and delicious.
My Mother’s 100th birthday is in a few months and she loves chocolate; I’ll be placing an order.
So they will make the chocolate bar more costly and thinner and less tasty.
That should improve sales!!
Thanks! We love the business but that wasn’t why I posted.....
I just love chocolate and making chocolate....My wife runs it but it’s my break away from engineering...
I think that “New Coke” was the way they disguised the switch from real cane sugar to HFCS.
The product was similar enough they called it Coke, but it was just a ruse to aid in forgetting how original Coke tasted. Then they “brought back by popular demand” Coca-Cola Classic (note, not just Coca-Cola, even though New Coke was a different brand).
Coca-Cola Classic is the original recipe with HFCS substituted for real cane sugar.
If you want to taste what Coke is supposed to taste like, buy a bottle of Mexican Coke. Really, it tastes just like it did when we were kids.
You are officially bookmarked! Not that you’ll be getting many orders, but your products look so good I am going to share...
Hershey is OK, as long as it is relatively cheap I buy it occasionally. Won’t if the cost approaches Lindt, which is WAY better chocolate.
Stores.... I don’t live near stores. Maybe Amazon?
Hmm.... looks too good. :-) I do not need to gain weight but I only like dark chocolate and in small quantity so it’s actually good for me, right? Right?
Way back before babies came, I was in the import/export business as a Customs Broker. Callebaut was one of our clients and they used to give THE best Christmas presents to us. Delicious!
