Just damn. Prayers for her loved ones.
Odd how douchebag liberals like Howard and Winkler, with their millions, left her fall on hard times.
Where was the love for those less fortunate?
I’m sure they did their part. Anyone who has had friends or family disposed to substance abuse knows sometimes it is impossible to help someone who doesn’t want to help themselves. RIP, Erin.
So young

Damn. RIP, Joanie.
Aparently in the past they had tried to help. Winkler anyways.
And she has on occasion ripped her felow cast members in interviews, despite this.
Actually, it was Winkler who tried to help her get work and was worried about her. Scott Baio said he had enough going on and his own family to take care of...
So stereotypes are not always accurate .
Regardless, if she didn’t want to recover from her drinking, no human power could have forced her.
So sad. So young.
RIP Erin.

What you saw on television is a fantasy. It wasn't real.
The Fonz and Ritchie weren't really friends with Joanie. It was all make-believe.
I've never been in the entertainment business, but I've watched a lot of documentaries and interviews and such over the past few decades....
People in music, movies, and TV treat it as a job. It's their career.
So in their defense, Henry Winkler and Ron Howard can't be expected to take an interest in a co-worker from 30 years ago.
It's not a liberal or conservative thing. Happy Days has been off the air for a LONG long long time. People move on with their lives.
Would you take a keen interest in the personal life of a co-worker from 30 years ago?
Actually just went to a funeral for a co-worker from 30 yrs ago.
You need to change your name to “JennysSmart”.......*S*
There is only so much you can do for people determined to destroy themselves. Also, Howard was the only cast member to go on to make mega bucks as a Hollywood director. The rest stayed relatively small time, so they may not have had the means to give as much help as she needed.
Another Hollywood child star whose life was ruined - for all of it’s vaunted liberal compassion, Hollywood has treated the children who’ve starred in it’s shows and movies brutally.
Way too young.
She had sued the HAPPY DAYS people and got $65,000 in 2011 or '12, but blew that money long ago and declined T.V. work that Winkler tried to get her. She was married, a drunk, and now, it is being claimed that Erin died of a heroin overdose.
No amount of money, pleading, cajoling, reasoning or any other emotion can fix an addict.
Bottom line is they have three choices; jail, death or recovery.
There is no other outcome.
I’ve seen people that have gone overboard in trying to help friends or family that were addicts. I’ve walked away from people when they would not stop trying to help. They’d ignore years of missing holidays, birthdays, special occasions or even just something you were supposed to do on the weekend trying “help” an the addict in their life.
You cannot reason with the unreasonable and expect rational decisions from the irrational.
I’m very sorry for her family and friends. I hope she has found peace that she didn’t find in life. Anyone that has dealt with addicts also know that those around her that tried to help at least have the comfort of finality.
There is a peace in that as well.
