The day before he upended the 2016 election, James B. Comey, the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, summoned agents and lawyers to his conference room. They had been debating all day, and it was time for a decision.
Mr. Comey’s plan was to tell Congress that the F.B.I. had received new evidence and was reopening its investigation into Hillary Clinton, the presidential front-runner. The move would violate the policies of an agency that does not reveal its investigations or do anything that may influence an election. But Mr. Comey had declared the case closed, and he believed he was obligated to tell Congress that had changed.
“Should you consider what you’re about to do may help elect Donald Trump president?” an adviser asked him, Mr. Comey recalled recently at a closed meeting with F.B.I. agents.
He could not let politics affect his decision, he replied. “If we ever start considering who might be affected, and in what way, by what we do, we’re done,” he told the agents.
But with polls showing Mrs. Clinton holding a comfortable lead, Mr. Comey ended up plunging the F.B.I. into the molten center of a bitter election. Fearing the backlash that would come if it were revealed after the election that the F.B.I. had been investigating the next president and had kept it a secret, Mr. Comey sent a letter informing Congress that the case was reopened.

If Donald Trump starts a nuclear war and destroys all life on Earth, it will be because of misogyny: Hillary lost the election because there is a double standard of ethical behavior, as every working woman knows. A woman has to be perfect at all times; a man can cheat, swindle, lie, hate, incite violence, assault women, and commit treason fairly openly, and yet nobody will constrain him, not even law enforcement.
Trump committed treason; Hillary sent some unsecured emails. Therefore every living thing on earth will die.

This article is the best accounting I’ve seen so far as to the decision making that preceded Comey’s unprecedented public statements last summer and immediately before the election.
Will somebody tell me exactly what is the treason that Trump is supposed to have committed? Everything he has done as president is completely legit and straightforward. Looks to me like he’s had the best interest of America in everything he has done. Hillary is the one who committed treason dozens of times, not to mention all the murders she has committed via hit squad.
Well said. I can;t get over this subject and I do compare it to the Roberts ACA decision. Comey & Roberts were handpicked to cover for Obama. They got some backlash but everyone got paid. No one took a legal pounding. Things will never change until someone is arrested for these treasonous actions.

These people are clinically insane. Just stood in line with several of them at my local Trader Joe’s here in the people’s republic of Massachusetts. I was temped to just randomly yell out Trump for the heck of it, but I figured it might be considered a “hate-crime” & it might damage some of the frumps with their messy gray hair & perpetual scowls who surrounded me:)
If he didn’t care which way the facts fell, he would have handcuffed her in the middle of a debate and hauled her off to jail to await trial for treason.

Steele was hired initially by an anti-Trump GOP entity to harvest dirt on Trump to be used in the primaries. When Trump won the primaries Steele went to work for some Hillary donors. The “Dossier” Steele concocted and tried to foist on U.S. news media appeared to most reporters and editors to be a bizarre hoax. Despite their biases the press wouldn't print a word. That's when John McCain and James Comey came to Clinton's rescue by treating Steele's fabricated dossier as a legitimate intelligence product. This gave Buzzfeed the excuse to publish Steele's “documents.”
It says everything about Comey that he would rely on a paid anti-Trump political operative—even offering to pay him—rather than using the FBI and the national intelligence apparatus to investigate. But, of course, Comey was certain Hillary would be the next president.
Hey, ass pirates at the NYSlimes...If the FBI had done it’s job with Hillary’s email & crooked foundation, she would have never been a presidential candidate. She would have been in prison awaiting a treason trial.
