America has always had its divisions, and Americans have never really been a monolith. Weve always been a nation of many nations. The culture of New England is different from the culture of the Deep South, which is different from the cultures in the West Coast or the Midwest. People living in the cities have different beliefs than people who live in the countryside. Within those areas, there are ethnic, linguistic, and religious enclaves. Its always kind of been like that (probably to a lesser degree in the past), and somehow weve been able to find enough common ground to keep this country together for more than a century.
However, something has changed. You can feel it in the air. Our nation has clearly never been this divided since the Civil War. A lot of people noticed it after the last election, but the truth is that these divisions have been deepening for decades, and theyre just now reaching a very noticeable breaking point. Thats obvious enough when you look at how the left and the right have been going at each other. It used to be a war of words, but its turning into something very dark.
Consider what happened last week in Berkeley after Trump supporters and counter protesters clashed for the third time. 21 people were arrested and 11 were injured (that we know of), six of who had to be taken to the hospital. At least one person was stabbed. The police confiscated confiscated knives, stun guns, and poles. One Trump supporter admitted to being surrounded, pepper sprayed, and beaten with sticks by a mob of protesters.
But wait, thats not the dark part. After these groups clashed, the leftist protesters took to Reddit and admitted that they lost this particular battle ...

It will be brutal and exceedingly ugly. Looking on the bright side, the conduct - especially recently - of the left and its associates has removed any last shred of hesitation, mercy or remorse that I might experience when it comes time to deal with them.
No. It’s not even close to the early 1980s. This is MUCH worse
But also in earlier times, here and there, as well.
There have always been FRINGE groups as well as "lone wolves", who agitated, perpetuated violence and/or upheaval, but it was NEVER like it is now....except for just prior to the Civil War. And even in that era, it wasn't like it is now.
WHY?
Because in times past, few had the time to piss away on crap, they got arrested or killed, and religion played a much bigger part in people's lives!
That all began to crumble in 1968.
The pendulum swings back and forth; it always has done. Yet, just when one thinks things can't sink any lower, these days, somehow it manages to do so.
Some might have missed it, but the left already started it.
In fact the left declared months ago they will do everything in their power to undermine and compromise the President, they declared the will ignore American law, regulations, etc, they've assaulted many people who simply support a different candidate etc.
It would be a lot harder this time around. We don’t have a clear South to rise again or a clear North to take umbrage at it.
However much hatred and heinousness could arise. More like an intifada than a war.
That isn’t bright at all. It is a walking away from God because the other people walked away from God. It is a cutting off of nose to spite face.
Reagan era did not come close to this Trump era. No comparison at all and it hasn’t even been 100 days..This nation is dangerously divided.
How divided are we now? It’s now vogue to publicly state you want to assassinate the president of the United States.
The Reagan era did not even come close, even though some nut bar did attempted to kill him.
If we can get both California and New England to secede and form independent (socialist) countries that would relieve the political pressure and avert war. There is no alternative except butchery.
Maybe, but remember, if you're writing for SHTF bright and cheery articles are forbidden.
This is what happens when you fail to raise a generation and they are left without any care in the world and bored.
It's from the Washington Post, but it gives the general idea pretty well.
What it has led to is, instead of electing a representative for all the people, we are now electing a racial or partisan favorite.
He didn't say this, but I think once the process has started, it feeds on itself and gets worse.
It might be better to just draw straight vertical and horizontal lines instead of trying to make sure every group gets a congressman.
It all depends on whom the government sides with. I would never put my money on their siding with the good guys.
Most secession are peaceful. I would not expect a California or New England secession to start a war.
Kevlar is good but I am of the opinion that chain mail is better :-)
I was shocked by the violence instigated by the left at Berkeley. shown on camera video. It was like seeing something happening in some 3rd world ****hole.
You keep mighty good company.
Sadly, not all of us are so fortunate.
Violence? That aint nuffin. Ya ought what these people in Berkeley promote and support..Most of them are likely clinically demented.
The time is rapidly approaching when passivity in the face of evil is an evil in itself.
