With the deadline for tax reform slipping, some prominent conservatives are pressing President Trump and congressional Republicans to change course.
Trump and the GOP have been pushing forward with efforts to make tax changes to both the individual and corporate tax systems in a single bill, with a goal of enacting them by August.
But the late summer target looks increasingly unlikely, with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin admitting this week that the timeline has become highly aggressive to not realistic.
With Republicans are desperate to notch a big legislative win under Trump, several voices in the conservative world are pushing for a new approach.

I agree.
Tax reform? Dude, where’s my wall?
Which seems to me a good reason not to expect it instantly. It would kill us.
Working miracles at this point in time wouldn’t necessarily cost the person their life. Jesus had to die for our sins, but a person now wouldn’t have to.
Of course all power comes from God, not the individual here.
Repenting from sin entails suffering at the best. We begin weakly and are limited in what we can do.
Trying to do too much too soon would end in nothing lasting being done at all. It would kill the progress, not our mortal lives.
At some point the ‘good life’ may cost us. I’m not convinced it will in this lifetime.
If a person is a good Christian these days in the United States, they can live that life and not be persecuted.
Those days may be coming, but I wouldn’t agree they are here just yet.
I believe we should strive to live a little closer to Christ every day.
If at some point He asks us to represent Him by doing something out of the ordinary, and we have that close a relationship with Him, and do it to glorify Him, He will work through us.
