Today, members of the California Legislature commemorated the 102nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, even as the United States of America continues to turn a blind eye to the genocide of 1.5 million Armenians.
We commemorate the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide to remember the 1.5 million souls lost and to celebrate the Armenians contributions to California, stated Assembly member Adrin Nazarian. Through vigilance and education we can banish genocide to our history books.
Armenian-Americans have not only survived, they have thrived and enriched the fabric of our communities. The genocide is about real people and real stories. For me it is about my wife Vanessa and her family, people I love and who are Armenian-Americans, said Wilk. By remembering the horror of the genocide we are taking steps to ensure it never happens again.

An author I greatly enjoyed as a youth was William Saroyan and “My Name is Aram” in particular. Of course Saroyan was both an Armenian American and a Californian.
The Kardashians are Armenian.
I’m glad that CA has done something right - now will come the Turkish inflammatory response.
My daughter has an Armenian friend and I met and talked to his parents at a Christmas party a few years ago. The father started talking about the Muslims breaking into their homes and killing everyone. Such was the fate of his brother and his wife and children. Poor man broke down crying as he was telling me the story. They had escaped to Russia then immigrated to United states some years later.
It’s still a bitter tragedy for many families. A genocide of the Armenians by Turkish Islamists. Menacingly Islamists have regained power in Turkey.
One thing that the Armenian Genocide should have taught us, is that you don’t need atomic bombs or gas chambers to murder a whopping number of people.
All you need is a disarmed populace, and a handful of thugs to round them up and march them off.
Very true. It’s hard though to imagine the degree of hate necessary.
Spot on!
This genocide and the wholesale murder of Jews in Germany should be the only argument one needs for the right to bear arms.
Unbelievable! The California squirrels finally get an Armenian acorn.
