The author sounds like a lib but she is quite right. Back in the old days there were tomboys and sissies. Most grew out of it. Good article from a surprising source.
Thing is, back in the 70’s, the left was all about girls playing with guns and boys playing with dolls. They suggested that we “force” girls to act girly and force boys to act boyish. Of course, they learned that it really is hard wiring.
Yet now they’ve taken it to the next level. Now, when a girl acts boyish, they start questioning the girl’s sexual identity. They are walking, talking breathing Dichotomies.
It is the liberal way. Remember, in the sixties, “save the whales”? It was because they wanted them to be there for our children and grandchildren to enjoy. But now it is “save the whales” for the sake of the whales themselves.
I was a tomboy when I was a kid, although I did like to put a pretty dress on occasionally. I just thought boys had more fun than girls, that playing cowboys and indians was more fun than playing house with dolls. Never did I think I was a boy, and thank God I grew up when we just had tomboys and sissies and didn’t indoctrinate us and shoot us up with hormones and ruin our lives.
but now, we have to make a federal case out of everything...
I, a mother of 3 and a set of triplets who didn’t make to even one-month hood, having had several wonderful husbands, who liked to ride motorcycles and horses, who was a veterinarian and a scientific researcher with a PhD, who wears her hair short or long depending, who is strong, resilient and loving, is a woman and never wanted any gender assignment.
You would never think I was a man yet I shoot guns very well and had I been in the Army, might have become a sniper but being in the Navy I went to avian electronics schools. So, what am I?
Independent, happy, inquisitive, artistic, musical and loving life no matter what it shoves or donates to my personal being.
I think organization of people into strict sexual roles is just stupidly ignorant. People should be allowed to be whatever it is they are and do those things that give them joy because it is with that very joy that love then powers everything in and around them.
