In the video at the link Col Cole actually got to fly a B-25 some 60 years after that historic day.

I find this to be incredibly sad and in turn I am incredibly thankful to men and women such as he.

Guts. They had guts. How many today would volunteer for a similar perilous mission?

It’s so sad that so few of that generation remain.

My Pop (who was a crew chief in the Army Air Core in WW2)told me that by accident, the bombs landed in the shape of a cross and the Japs thought we did it on purpose.

May God continue to bless and keep this brave man.
They don’t make many like him, any more.

Love these guys.. I just can’t figure out.. with our technology, with our educated armed forces, why do we keep losing?
These guys did it with almost no education, but darn they had the will and the courage. Thank you Colonel.. I envy your ability to endure and overcome. cheers!

I’m reading “Target Tokyo” right now. What an incredible story of initiative, audacity, daring and courage.

Two really good films were made about that raid. The well known “Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo” and the lesser known “The Purple Heart”.

They didn’t give his story, but we know from Doolittle’s biography that his and Cole’s plane crash-landed in Quzhou, in Zhejiang Province, Southwest of Shanghai. All of Doolittle’s crew parachuted out safely, I believe, and with the help of locals, were not captured by the Japanese.

Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo is long overdue for a high-quality re-make.
